I washed sheets and hung them out, clean the cat's litter box, and gave
her a dose of medication for a bladder problem. Before that, I washed
the supper dishes.

Looks very good! I know you add other things but you do
seem to have a very limited veggie diet menu.

You might want to consider taking a multivitamin each day.
I eat fairly well but I alway take 1/2 each day just in
case I'm missing a little something in my diet.

Just something to consider.

I eat lots of other stuff too!

And here's the recipe for Garlic Potatoes:

It's a recipe from a local restaurant that I got in a newsletter years ago. I'll give you my slightly modified version:

5 lbs potatoes

4 cups 40% cream

1-1.5 heads of fresh garlic (not the stuff in jars!)

1 tsp salt

1 tsp white pepper (black pepper works too, but makes black specks in the sauce!)

Gruyere swiss cheese

Peel (optional I suppose) and slice up the potatoes into chunk slices about 1/4 inch thick. Peel and mince the garlic, and I pare that little green plant out of the middle of each clove (A PITA, but it's kinda fun too!)

In a large pot, put the potato pieces, the cream, the garlic and the salt and pepper and bring to a gentle boil for about 10-15 mins. Thin with a little milk to make it easy to stir.

Then pour into a shallow baking pan like a lasagna pan, and grate Gruyere cheese on top. Bake at 350F for 40 mins or into until the Gruyere gets light golden brown.

Let sit for 30 mins after baking, and enjoy!

And they are DELISH!! Used to be served at Riddle's Penultimate on Delmar in STL. Their chef in the early 1990's was Andy Ayres and I hAve an early '90's newsletter from Riddle's with the recipe in it. I used to make them for our family's Thanksgiving dinners.

When potatoes and other vegetables are boiled a good part of their
vitamins and minerals go down the drain with the cooking water. Smart
cooks save that water for soups and baking, can be frozen for later
use.
My doctor sends me for a blood work up each year, partly to determine
what vitamins to recommend, he's not into the multi/one-a-day kind,
can be taking too much of something you don't need that can cause
harm.

How narcissistic of you (once again) John. Sheldon has been posting to
RFC since the early days of Usenet. Not via Google Groups.

Question: How many years have you been reading/posting here that you
don't know how old Sheldon is?

Answer: The number of years don't really matter. The real answer is
because you never paid a lick of attention to posts wishing him a happy
birthday over the years. If you had, you'd know how old he is.

You don't know because the only thing you care about is yourself. We
all know you're 60. I, for one, don't give a shit.

So not only do we have to mow our lawns in time and make sure we don't
have clover or dandelions, we're also judged by how often we wish
people a happy birthday.

I wish everybody a happy birthday, whether in the past, the current or

I dunno about that. I a *not* a vegetarian but if you accept eggs, milk
and milk products, I have not had 'meat' (including seafood) for 3 days.

Some chicken thighs defrosted for tomorrow.

Things used:

Cauliflower
3 versions of cabbage
Summer squash
Mustard greens
broccoli, 2 versions
onions
Cucumbers
Potatoes, 2 versions
peanuts
acorn squash
butternut squash
garlic
rice
spelt bread
cashews
Kholrabi
oranges
grapes (purple)
Kiwi
Apples
Blueberries
Strawberries
Fresh bread

I think it is likely John eats morr variety than the posts.

Well, the Frontline (for cats and ferrets) didn't do anything.
And I tried the flea sprays (on carpet), flea powders on
carpet...sprinkle on then gently spread it with a broom. Then
vacuum it up. Tried the borax powder the same way.

What did work well (temporarily) was to give them a
shampoo every 2 weeks. Flea shampoo not necessary, I used
regular shampoo.

Fill a gallon pitcher with soapy warm water. Rub some
straight shampoo around their necks then immerse them
in the water right up to the neck. All the fleas below
the neckline drowned then I had to use tweezers to look
for and pick them off their heads.

At the very end of shampoo, dunk them underwater in a
5-gallon bucket to rinse.

They loved the warm baths and didn't mind. But then
they would collect more from the carpet.

Little bit at a time, it worked but it took a long time.

The entire flea problem was me. My ferrets never went outside.
Fleas outside would jump on me (they're attracted to body heat).
They never bit me but once inside they would jump off and
into the carpet then would jump on ferrets as they ran by.

Peoples pets have a higher IQ. In fact a Rosses goose recently took
up residence here, she's far more intelligent than Koochie. She gets
a blend of cracked corn and seeds meant for geese/ducks from Tractor
Supply. Bread will eventually make all birds and especially water

foraging for their normal diet, and die. We buy waterfowl feed in 50
pound sacks and feed the recommended amount so that she will continue
to forage. She knows me and eats from my hand. Geese are like watch
dogs, if they don't know you they will chase you away. Rosses geese
make the loudest honks, they can be heard for miles. She's about
twice the size of Canada geese but she likes to hang out with them.
This year she guarded their babies.

Only if count hearing over and over about his "VSTD" meal which

Surely someone who actually *is* a vegetarian could chime up and offer

not being able to recognize it in himself.

He's never posted anything or expressed any interest in what anyone else

Besides, when the heck would he find the time? He's too busy posting
crap about mowing his lawn and copper nails and his electric car and
he's "rippin it" and other stupid shit. He occasionally buys mangos.

His mode of cooking strikes me as rather institutionalized. Don't

John followed me here, like he previously followed me to alt.punk, where he also made an ass of himself, and he projects his narcissism onto me. Hey, I might be a bit conceited, but I am also self deprecating on occasion when it's true, and I can get a laugh at my own expense. It seems like his therapist has advised him not to project his illness onto me. That's an improvement.

Jill, because of your snipping, I think you missed the point. He eats
other things too but doesn't post often on what he eats.

Example: Gai Lan (Cantonese for Chinese Broccoli) was up there as the
other version of broccoli. Have i ever posted a recipe with it here?
Probably not, but may have.

My assumption is he eats a lot of other things than what you see
recently posted about. Like many here, he may be mentioning just
special dishes that made him smile that day.

Methinks you need to look up the definition of "narcissist", John. You
post the minutiae of your life, ad naseum. When you don't get the

I did like it! I make something not too far off it. I add Vadouvan
curry and mushrooms (fresh works best for that one).

A lot of my recipes are very simple too. Don't let the detractors tell
you simple can't be good.

As you have seen, I am *not* a vegetarian but I definatly am a low meat
eater. Most 'meats' I eat are seafood based.

As you know I like Asian veggies after my tour there.

Here's one I think you might like. Very simple to put together and
quite inexpensive.

Serving for 2 (if just you, 1 leftover).

1c cabbage, Bok Choy, Napa, head type in red or green

1/2c carrot, shaved with peeler or thin chopped (or shave with peeler
then thin chop the remainder)

2 cloves (small) minced garlic

1 tb oil you like and a small pan. I like Olive oil here and use a
cheap one.

Add the garlics to toast in the oil then add the rest and toss it about
to coat, then cook to your liking. If you like the garlics browned
that takes about 1.5 minutes and to cook the rest is about 1 minute if
you like crisp.

Sure you can add more, but sometimes, simplicity is best. Eat alone or
over rice with beans.

She lost her hatred when she finally got away from you. She knew
your question didn't deserve an answer as she was concerned about the
safety of her child. Just because she didn't answer you does not make
you right; it made her son safe from your crazy grasp. She wanted to
give him a chance of a normal life which you couldn't provide. She
was more concerned with giving him a stable home which he would not
have had if he'd stayed around you.

That's why I mentioned different methods of preparation. I generally
split the hen in half and grill or broil it. Brushed with a combo of
butter, neutral oil, garlic and herb seasoning, cooked until the skin is
nice and crispy. It's quite nice. Or if you'd like something a little
spicy, lightly coated in flour seasoned with salt and a bit of cayenne
pepper.

The only time I cook the whole little hen is at Thanksgiving. With
cornbread dressing on the side. That's a long way off. No reason I
can't cook a cornish game hen in the meantime. :)
