a few weeks back, a guest on his ranch show made rib eye steaks. except the steaks were not rib eye. they were a bone in rib steak. the rib eye is the eye muscle in that cut of beef.
next...
a goose was cooked. nicely roast. however, when discussing the goose, they, the hep cats at guys ranch show said that the goose was a tough bird because it is a wild animal and flew around all over the place. there was never any mention that the goose that they had roast was wild. the domestic goose does not fly all over the place. it does not fly at all. the cooking show people think that we are all a bunch of simpletons.

I am not too sure about that because I have come to realize that cuts
of meat have different names in different places. I am inclined to think
of rib eye. I Google Ribeye and got mixed result. Wikipedia says that in
the US it is boneless but outside the US it is interchangeable. Recipe
sites showed mixed results, often showing a photo of a ribeye with a bone.
FWIW.. around here a London Broil is a fairly thin piece of pounded or
otherwise mechanically tenderized tough cut of beef wrapped around
sausage meat and then sliced into portions. In other places it is a
chunk of tough steak that has been marinated to tenderize.

. next... a goose

I have to agree with you on that one. A wild goose, such as Canada
Goose, is not a very big bird. I don't know why people even hunt them,
except maybe for target practice. I am all too familiar with domestic
geese. A former neighbour used to have a couple dozen of them. I have
to say that they can fly a little, but don't. In all the years that he
had those things they only time I ever saw one fly was when a coyote was
chasing it. The goose was barely off the ground and only made it about
50 yards. Even wild turkeys can fly better than a domestic goose.

I don't understand why that guy even has a show on the food network. He
would be better suited as a replacement for Steve Irwin because he seems
to be able to unhinge his jaws to take ginormous bites of food, showing
it halfway down his gullet so it bypasses his taste buds. I am still
contemplating dumping the food channel, and it didn't help that they had
Triple D back to back to back the other day.

I'm not a big fan of Guy, but you have "how many" restaurants and
cooking shows? ;)

I've never understood these kinds of analogies based on perceived
success. I think it's fair to say that Michael Jackson had a
successful career, based on your analogy he must be beyond criticism
in regards to his sexual preferences?

i'm a legend in my own mind. no really. just because someone has billions of shows/restaurants or whatever number; it's good he's successful. i don't wish to take that from the man. he's got some charisma, and is a good cook. that doesn't excuse him from trying to fool the public.

I'm not a fan of watching Fieri cram huge amounts of food in his mouth
on his Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show. If I see his name listed I
move right along.

I used to have an office next to a restaurant whose owner really liked guy. He cut and dyed his hair to match him. That's going a little bit overboard but such is the food service industry. I think that guy is great - the guy, not Guy. When my office was flooded he pitched in and helped his neighbor. I was seriously touched by that. :)

Such is the food service industry? Are you saying it's common for
Hawaiian chefs to dye their hair like a TV chef? Do you have a local
Bobby Flay? Nigella Lawson?

Nigella Lawson is my Food Goddess! :-)

Seems that many in the chef and cooking industry have more tattoos and
wild hair styles than the average.

Do you mean more tats than the average athelete, military, rock star,
or housewife... nowadays more females sport tats than males. I don't
think one's fashion statement is any reflection on intelligence.

I mean like chefs becoming personalities and having to spend part of the time out of the kitchen and schmoozing with the diners. My parents like eating there because the guy always makes them feel welcome. It's kind of a strange concept - or is it? :)

I guess it depends how they do it. The old school way or with an "I'm
a celebrity" attitude.

Gone are the days when only sailors and inmates had tattoos. It seems
that these days it is quite usual for people to choose a picture and
have someone else trace a tattoo into your skin and consider it a
personal artistic expression. A lot of guys have them done because that
think that, for some reason, it makes them look tough. My personal
opinion is that they look bad enough to begin with. They fade with age
and the skin on which they are drawn sags and wrinkles. Look are some of
the photos of people from previous decades, the ridiculously wide bell
bottoms, Afros on white people, leisure suits, multi coloured spiked
hair and mohawks, mullets. They looked silly back then. The are
embarrassing to look back at. At least they were temporary and could be
easily changed. Tattoos are permanent.

I think that anyone who wants to get into a lucrative business should
look into tattoo removal. There are millions of people out there who
made bad decisions.

relevant aspects of the tattoo.
