This past Christmas a local guy died of listeria. He had been a local
politician and then went on to do fund raising for a number of local
service clubs and services. The last couple times I saw him I thought
that he was going down hill fast. I wasn't particularly surprised to
hear that he died, but I expected it to be a heart issue. It turned out
to have been listeria.

The news report I heard (on CBS) said no reports of illness have
occurred. It's a voluntary recall by one company for avocados grown in
one location. They're doing their own due diligence, which I certainly
respect.
