I admit, I haven't used my cast-iron waffle iron in years, since I don't want to buy anything that comes in a spray can - and how easy can it be to grease it properly without that kind of spray? (Cleaning it is a pain, too...)

The omelette - and the churros - sound good. (I had churros in Spain. Now if only, in the U.S., they'd provide something better than Hershey's Syrup to dip them in!)

What is the problem with the aerosol? It is vegetable oil in a
pressurized can. You probably run greater risk from the oil that has
been overheated. If the thought of Pam still scares you, get a teflon
brush and brush it with vegetable oil.

They're not always easy to recycle.

Around here they just go it with the metal, glass and plastics
recyclables. You could use an oil spritzer?

Yes, the aerosol cans go right into the recycle bin and if she looked at the
can she would know this. But yes, oil spritzers are available right on her
grocery store shelf; plastic bottle and refillable from Pam, the aerosol
spray people. She has her choice of olive oil or canola oil. She can also
spring for a metal spritzer called EVO.

I'm not going to click through 26 times, but I posted this yesterday
to the "Other" group. A Monte Cristo from the waffle iron and a
virgin bloody Cesar with pickled asparagus.

I bet that wasn't in there.
