There are several grades of asphalt shingles. Those put on most new
construction are 20 year asphalt shingles, some cheap builders will
use 15 year asphalt. Then there are better that are good for 25 years
and 30 years. We have asphalt archetextural shingles that didn't cost
much more than the lower grades, but lees than half what you paid for
clay roofing, they are good for 50 years, we won't be here. These 50
year archetextural asphalt shingles were installed by the last owner
some 15 years before we purchased this house.
Clay roofing works well in hot dry climates, not too well in wet cold
climates especially with snow, they absorb moisture, freeze and crack.

I can guarantee it wasn't built to have any specific roofing,
especially not a color, no house is... most any house can get by with
plastic tarp roofing for a year or two, any color.
If our house needed new roofing we'd have metal roofing installed...
that's what most young people around here are installing, very
attractive designs, and it will last 100+ years... costs more than
asphalt roofing but a whole lot less than your clay tiles. Many of
our neighbors are having metal roofing installed, GORGEOUS. And you
can buy metal roofing that no one can tell aren't your exact clay
tiles, and in all colors... and weather won't affect it. Of course at
your age I seriously doubt you will last 100 years, certainly without
working wour bank account won't... within ten years you will be dining
at the local church soup kitchen, and they won't care what you like
and don't like... if you're still with us they'll likely be feeding
you cheap balogna sammachis while pushing you about in a Nordic Track
wheelchair! LOL
They saw you coming, and naturally you boasted that you are rich,
Rich, RICH, so they charged you accordingly... you paid at least twice
what that old fashioned technology clay roof is worth. Fool!
