My Costco had them in stock this last week. I got 2 jars and will
have to go back again in a day or so to get some more. They are $7.29
per 60 ounce jar at my store. I was so afraid that Costco wasn't
going to get them back again. I missed them last year. I love these
things. They are the best, so sweet. It is a 60 ounce jar of whole,
sweet red and yellow peppers. They are huge peppers. A 36 ounce jar
is $11.00 at Amazon. Lovely stuff. Just after I picked up my two
jars I heard a gasp behind me and a man swerved his cart over to the
peppers to grab a couple of jars for himself. Apparently I'm not the
only one who loves them.

Does fire roasting change the taste of the peppers? I'm not a fan
of red, yellow, or the green variety and if roasting changes the
taste I'd be willing to try them.

It definitely improves the taste. I do mine over a gas burner holding it
with tongs until it's nicely blackened.

I rarely order fajitas when out as I spend my time picking those
peppers out of a usually tasty dish. I'm not wild about the mouth
feel either (chewy slime).

Yes, it mellows them out. I much prefer them over raw peppers. Good on
salads or burgers. Making them is easy but you can also buy them in a
jar.

More for me. Around here they don't put jarred peppers in the
fajitas, they only serve fresh peppers. You get a smoking hot cast
iron skillet with the peppers and onions and whatever protein in it.
You can hear the pan and fixings coming because of the loud sizzle.
You dress the warm packet of tortillas any way that you want. Sour
cream and pico de gallo served on the side with a little pile of
lettuce and tomato.
Have you tried the Tassos peppers, Steve?

I'm a texture person. I hesitated to try jarred peppers until last
year and was pleasantly surprised, but you're right. If she doesn't
like cooked peppers she won't like them jarred either.

Joan doesn't like cooked peppers. Period.

I love fajitas! Just realized that the fire roasted (frozen) peppers
at Trader Joe's is probably meant for fajitas. I use them for other
things. Must make fajitas at home soon now. :)

I especially like the Tassos peppers. The other brands of peppers at
the grocery store are acrid tasting to me (probably didn't clean
enough of the charred skin off) and the peppers tend to be torn,
overcooked, and therefore mushy. These Tassos are firm and sweet. No
torn peppers or mushy ones. I've now got 4 jars. I wonder if that
will be enough to get me to next year. Maybe I should go back and get
another two. I eat these peppers as a snack or a side.

IMO jarred to fresh would be like comparing pickles to cucumbers. Both
are delightful but not the same.

Maybe we're talking about two completely different products then. I
used them in a recipe that I make from time to time and frankly, I
thought the finished dish didn't taste any different from when I use
fresh or frozen. So, I bought the other bottle to keep on hand for a
time when I want to make that recipe again and don't have the other
two.

is what you are using.

I used to be able to get cans like those but not any longer. Even

As far as I can tell, they aren't pickled. The jar I used was only
red pepper. The new jar is yellow and red, but I expect it to taste
the same.

The Tassos label says Roasted whole Red and Yellow Florinas Peppers,
water, salt, vinegar, grape juice. I didn't look very hard, but I
couldn't find an ingredient listing for Trader Joe's jarred roasted
peppers.

I don't know what the other jar's ingredient list is, but this one is
red and yellow bell peppers, water, olive oil, garlic, salt, citric
acid.

Yours has vinegar, and grape juice - so I'd expect it to have a
pickled flavor. Mine has olive oil and garlic. I think the citric
acid in mine is there to preserve color, but I'll reserve judgment on
flavor until I use it. In the mean time, I will assume that they'll
give me the same result as the bottle of all red peppers did. :)

they may of had them and they are gone for the year. It's been 10
days since I was there and I am hoping there are some left but won't
be surprised it not. I got the double jar of Kirkland regular stuffed
olives. I am very pleased with them. They are packed really tight in
the jar. The olives themselves are very meaty and you get to chew
the large olives. I usually get one jar of the stuffed ones each
year.

Fire roasting is to help discard the skin of the pepper slips off so the true flavor can come out. These are the sweetest and tastiest I have ever had. When my Costco has them every other holiday season. I buy about 12 or 16 jars to get me through for the next time.

It does change the flavor some. You can also try putting peppers on
a sheet pan under the broiler for a few minutes on each side, just
until the skin blisters, then into a paper bag with a damp paper
towel for a while till cool. Then peel them.
