I'm sure I'm gonna hate the sardines, but I needed to get them out
of the freezer without throwing them away. I gotta at least
TRY...

i've never had to deal with a sardine large enough
that had scales to eat. i didn't even know they got
big enough or scales that big to bother about...

hmmm, perhaps a different species than what i'm
thinking of that comes in the small tins?

You just reminded me that I have a bag of frozen smelt in the freezer.

The first thing we have to ask is: will they fall between the grill grates?

Have you ever gotten what seemed like a good food mix
but it turned out awful? I remember years ago hanging at
the poolroom and living on basically crap I would sometimes
get the smoked oysters at the convenience store. I liked
them. One day imagined them with steak. Cut up steak
with the smoked oysters smothered atop. Man, it smelled
good (in my mind). I had the idea in my head for a week
or two before finally throwing it together. Man did it ever suck.
If the failures don't cost too much I actually sometimes enjoy them.

Yep, that's still my life (except for the poolroom part - we have computers, now).

Hah, grilled sardines, sounds awful. But that's the point - who really
knows how it's going to turn out? The more I imagined the smoked
oysters and steak together the better it seemed. I like steak and I
liked canned smoked oysters, that seemed good enough for me.
But it was a disaster. Kind of like a guy window shopping for clothes.
The greatest pants he's ever seen. The most attractive shirt ever.
A great sports coat. All from different stores. The best of everything.
But none of it fits together and he looks like a circus clown. By the
way, speaking of sardines, I have never seen them on sale in anything
other than a can or jar. What are they called when sold raw? Are they
in fact sold raw? What the hell is a sardine anyway? I know I have
google and I enjoy looking up such info, but I'd like to hear your response.
No, I'm going to google it up now, then I'll get your report on top of
it to see if they jibe. If not I'll know you're wrong because info over
the internet is always correct.

Funny, sardines and the poolroom, not an odd mix as for money players
a lot of 'fish' came through the poolroom every day.

I googled it up and my guess was right on. But that's all it was, a guess.
I used to eat kipper snacks a lot too. Easy to steal, nice and flat, perfect
for the pocket. Plus if I had cash they were cheap. Pretty salty though
but with a nice firm texture. I don't eat a lot of canned foods but some
are not bad. If starving they can even be great.
