Angela made this and sent me the recipe. Nothing was measured. Just done to
taste.

Onion
Ground Beef
Cream of Mushroom Soup
Cheese
Cooked Pasta
Seasonings of choice

For seasonings, I used salt, pepper, garlic and parsley. I also added slices
of sweet pepper. I used Kraft shredded mix of cheddar.

Cook beef and veg, drain fat (if any), mix in the other stuff and eat.

It's very good. I think you could substitute rice for the pasta or make it
as sort of a meat gravy and serve over toast, biscuits or mashed potatoes.

Another one of your witless "food" troll posts, you might as well post a "recipe" for "water"

Sadly I didn't write down which flavor of Hamburger Helper
worked but once (many years ago), I used a pound of
ground hot sausage instead of ground beef. It was amazing
and much improved taste.

What's to write down... I've done that all the time for over 50 years,
with freshly ground pork and/or beef, Italian seasonings, canned
crushed and diced tomatoes, onion, garlic, red pepper flakes, s n'p, I
like it tossed with small shells pasta. That was one of my favorite
grade school lunches, that or tomato soup with frankfurter coins. I've
never tasted Hamburger helper.

Probably better than what you can whip up. It's good stuff
and versatile for many uses. I like it fine.

Never as soup but as an ingredient for other meals.

No. I pretty much only use it in tuna casserole. Normally I make that about
twice a year. Have been making it more now because I seem to always find
tuna at the store but not always the meat that I want.

It can easily be made from scratch. I used to make it when we were avoiding
dairy. I used rice milk and either fresh or dried mushrooms.

Here's the difference between us, Gary. (Nothing to do with Sheldon or
Julie's opinion). If it doesn't taste good as a soup all by itself, I
won't use it as the primary ingredient in gravy.

Nothing wrong (to me) with the taste, Jill. I just don't
like it made as plain soup. Very little texture - almost
a puree which you like but I don't.

As a gravy (with 1/4 can of milk), it's
an excellent gravy. Even better is a mix of:
-cream of mushroom and
-cream of chicken
They even sell a mix of the two in one can.
Yes - that many people like it.

You don't even like mushrooms.
"Mushrooms really aren't my thing," said the Jill.
So why do you even speak up about mushroom recipes?

Don't let the bullies bother you, Julie. Read the hypocrisy
and humor behind the lines.

Mention here that you made Hamburger Helper and some will
will say, "Why use that crap, so easy to make your own."
Yet when you make your own (anything similar) they will
joke you for recreating Hamburger Helper from scratch.

Let the bullies here embarrass themselves. No need to
reply to them.

I only speak up because you keep saying I won't eat it. It's the reason
why I won't use it as "gravy". Eat whatever you like, it doesn't matter
to me.

My mother used to occasionally cook things with a can of cream of
mushroom soup, usually pork chops. I didn't mind it until one day we
visited my mother's uncle's farm and I watched him slopping the pigs.
That pig slop turned me right off mushroom soup recipes. It also
diminished my interest in eating the soup. Years later I worked in a
camp where the cook made excellent soups and the day he did cream of
mushroom soup I was amazed that it could taste so good.

My interest in mushrooms comes and goes. They were never a favourite
when I was young. For a number of years I really enjoyed sauteed
mushrooms with a steak and they were an essential component of a
skewered grilled vegetables. Over the last year or so my interest in
them has dropped right off. My wife gets them occasionally and serves
them to me, but I never buy them or cook them myself. I can't say that I
don't like them. I'm just not interested in them.

Why did the pig thing ruin your love of mushrooms or soup?

I do like that. Steak with mushrooms and onions on top
or on the side.

A premium meal here is one made from scratch, from quality ingredients.
They don't have to be expensive ingredients.

Not from some oversalted glop in a can.

And when I say oversalted, that's saying something.

I don't care for so-called fresh stupidmarket 'shrooms, I use a mix of

have no 'shroom flavor whatsoever, those smell like old gym socks.

Yup, dehy are the only I use anymore...those "fresh" ones taste like styrofoam...with dehy a larger selection and lower cost...and a number of times the "fresh" packages are slimy or have mold even...not even fit for Kootchie's "compost pile", lol...

I'll admit white button mushrooms have little flavor compared with more
exotic varieties. But anybody who thinks they have no flavor must have
extremely weak taste buds.

I still like Campbell’s cream of mushroom and cream of chicken, made with
milk, as a meal with plenty of soda crackers and a cold glass of milk.
I’ll pass on their cream of tomato. That went to hell years ago.
I use their cream of mushroom and cream of celery once every several years
when I make a tuna casserole. Hmm...I haven’t made a tuna casserole for a
long time. I wonder how much longer I can go? Maybe I’ve made my last one
along with buying my last furnace. Maybe my wife forgot that she likes tuna
casserole?

Funny you should mention tuna casserole. I haven't made it in
years but have been thinking about it the past few weeks. I
do like casserole dishes. Very quick and easy to heat up a
little bit later for a snack.

Rarely made here but I've always liked it right out of the oven
but often not so much for leftovers. I do remember the last
time I made though, I even enjoyed the leftovers.

So you say the cream of celery is good with that? I don't
think I've ever tried that one.

anyway...time now for a grocery store trip.

It’s better with it to my taste. You need both concentrated soups to make
TC tolerable. I think of it as “belly filler”, but my wife loves it.
Shhhhh!
I know that there are far better tuna casserole recipes than I make.
