When I did serious running (50+ miles a week), I always kept a 2lb bag
of frozen corn in the door of my freezer for the occasional (but rare)
icing of a knee. 2 pounds is large enough to cover it all at once.
Note: the flat sided corn was a little better than the round peas but
that's just nit-picky.
I forget the details now but I still have the running books to look it
up. The cold therapy is good to do first to keep swelling down in the
first few hours. After that (at least by next day), wet-heat therapy is
best to help heal the problem. Soaking in hot bath is good.
