It is strange that the Chicago beaches are closed yet the adjoining bike and walkways are open. You can sit on the park benches next to the bike lanes.

I sat on a bench for one hour last Saturday while dozens of bikers past within 5 feet of me. If the COVID Super Spreader rate is 3 percent, then at least 3 asymptomatic bikers rode past me. I have no issues after 7 days, other than back spasms from lifting a water bucket, which I took ibuprofen for.

I took off my mask to eat lunch. I didn't check every biker. In fact I'm back on the park bench now. Maybe 25 percent of bikers and walkers are mask covered.

You're outdoors with a mask on? If you're not talking with anyone or anyone
is sitting close to you you don't have to wear that muzzle.

Yesterday morning I made an attempt to stop at the bank. While putting on
my muzzle I see a guy walking his dog with a mask on and rubber gloves. N.O.
O.N.E. was out on the street but him. It's a shame these masks don't impart
a bit of common sense.

You don't have to wear a mask at all. First amendment! And second
amendment! And all the other amendments! Nobody takes away our
liberties! Hide in the hills! Vote Republican! Long live Donald!

Perhaps he had just come from some indoor public location.

If you suspect your mask might have become contaminated, it's better
to leave it on than to continually remove and replace it.

A couple of months ago, I was out in the neighborhood and
a woman was walking her little dog. The dog had a mask hung
around it's neck.

I had to ask. She told me she tried a mask on at home and
the dog seemed very interested so she asked, "Would you
like a mask too?"

So she puts one on the dog. LOL

The only time I've had any trouble is when cycling up a slope wearing
one of those disposable blue masks and therefore breathing more heavily
than usual. No problem with a cloth one under the same circumstances.
Otherwise no problems with 3 different double cloth ones and the
disposable kind. I'm 6'3" and 183lbs.

The thicker better masks just don't let in much fresh air.
You're breathing half fresh and half stale air so less
oxygen. I occasionally will pull mine up off my nose for a
breath or 2 when no one is nearby. Big difference.

Again, here's the good one I use:
https://www.hostpic.org/images/2006031558400088.jpg

You can buy thinner masks but they're not as effective.

Let your innocent cold virus be a friendly warning to you.
You just said that you haven't worn a mask yet.
That virus is in your country. Just saw a news thing this
morning about Melbourne lockdown and you might be far from
there but people do travel and the virus with them.

Just wear a mask when in a store or anytime around people
other than yourselves. And wash hands after. Those aren't
completely failsafe but it's the best we can do for now.

Only thing I've done since March is a grocery store trip
once ever week or two. I won't even trust takeout food as
you never know who's inside making that food. I've known
of many "poor" people that will go to work when feeling
sick just because they don't get sick pay and can't
afford the pay loss.

The ventilator hole defeats the purpose of keeping your germs inside
and protecting other people from your possible asymptomatic case of
COVID-19.

Since this coronavirus is in the common cold family, it will be regarded as a
common ailment in 2030, or we will all be sickly or dead. So far, it hasn’t
been shown to be seasonal. The good news is that diseases that kill are not
very successful in the long run. They adapt to us, so they can live as well.
I googled “common cold” when covid first arrived. You will find
supposition as google's answer. Nobody knows nothin’, but supposition is
rampant. The common cold easily could have decimated humanity once upon a
time.

What you say is true, although, having read stuff, I think that
getting covid from food is very unlikely. Same with handling
"contaminated" mail packages, for instance. Theoretically possible,
maybe, but very unlikely. When they do "contact tracing", they trace

If things get worse in our state, masks will definitely become a good
idea.

Those are known as respirators here. I have one but
don't use it for stores. Mine has a changeable filter
on each side. Each filter has a charcoal packet and a thin
cotton-like dust filter. The mask itself is rubber.

They will seriously filter your breath intake but the little
button nose is used for exhaling and doesn't filter at all.
A little rubber gasket only opens when you exhale.

Keeps YOU safe from breathing in but doesn't provide any
protection to anyone around you if you are sick.

This is similar to mine:

don't hold your breath for too long or you may die."

Not deliberately. But viruses that are highly contagious and
extremely lethal are comparatively rare. They tend to kill their
host before they can propagate. Viruses will more successfully reproduce
if their host lives longer. Successful reproduction is the entire
point of evolution.

And still to this day with organ transplant patients.
Once you get a transplanted organ, you have to take
immune-suppressing drugs for the rest of your life.
That prevents your body from rejecting your transplant.

That also opens you up to dying from any virus that
comes along...even the common cold.
Same deal with AIDS virus.

I had a good friend that got a kidney transplant and
she ending up dying a few years later because of that
situation. She was only 38 years old. Not fair at all.

Right, covid is highly contagious, but not extremely lethal.

Covid doesn't do that.

Covid is successfully reproducing because its hosts live longer.

Yes, and let's not forget the people who died in knife fights,
shootings, suicides with a bullet to the head: all listed as Covid deaths.

And the testing sites that had 98% positives, only to be shamed into
admitting there were only 10% positives.

And the NYC nursing home deaths which were not counted as nursing home
deaths because they were so sick they had to be removed to a hospital,
so were counted as hospital covid deaths, not nursing home covid deaths.

It all stinks, really.

I hope you are not in denial about this virus. Two of our town council
members had it and one of them died. He was in is 40s and very fit. My
wife is involved with an association for retired teachers and there were
several of their members living in homes who died of it. It's real.
Some people get it and don't even know they are sick. Some people test
positive for it but have no symptoms. Some get it and are mildly
affected while others are extremely ill and sometimes for weeks or
months, and some die of it. It is quite real.

Because the US has 480 dead per 1 million people. Or approx. 5 dead
per 10,000 people. Chances are you don't know any of those people, but
it's still a lot. Almost 160,000 people in your country alone. And

They're learning. That thing about aerosols, for instance. Or the

I don't know how well spread covid was in your area on the 1st of

And the other way around, especially in the beginning: people dying
from corona, but being listed as dead from another health problem that
they had. People sometimes get things wrong. Is that new?

Exactly. Military are strictly not allowed to use those because they
actually spread the disease *more effectively*. When you breathe out,
it is not only unfiltered, but it comes out faster with a farther
spread.

What the studies given to the military show is that you are safer next
to an idiot not wearing a mask, than you are with the worse idiot
wearing one like that.

If you accept it vicariously, then yes you do. Thats how sadly, I came
to adopt my Great Dane. Josh died. He was a heathy mid-30's marathon
runner with no known prior existing conditions.

Every area is a bit different on how the word has gotten out. Gary and
I live in Virginia and I for one like our Governor. At this time, he's
been pretty solid (not suprising, he's a Doctor).

The young people are chafed over it all and often ignoring the
directions but once the word went out to 'mask up, people' he was solid
from what I saw.

Hampton Roads is again in semi lock-down but since about 1/4 of all
Virginia residents live here (check that, might be off a little but I
think that was it), we'd be expected to have issues magnified.

Here's something interesting. The Military are running a significantly
lower COVID-19 infection level than the civilian populace. Yes, the
aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt issue was huge but largely they
have held it at bay.

What is the difference? They mask-up and have been for months and they
DON'T use the unsafe ones with breathe out vents. They know they can
be charged via UCMJ for the offense (Includes off duty) of not wearing
a mask. Every building I know of had a guard doing a temperature
check. Many bases are doing that at the gate.

A co-worker recently celebrated his kidney's 105th birthday. He's had
it for 45+ years.
He does take medication and gets tests.

I'm talking about people dying of cancer, heart attacks, and strokes, etc.
being listed as dying of Covid-19. I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was
stuttering when I wrote that.

Damn, you are dense. When someone dies of a heart attack and they list
as Covid-19 they are exaggerating the number of cases. I put on a face
mask if I want to enter the grocery store, not because I think I'll
become infected.

I find that difficult to believe. After all, it's the sort of crap that
ImPotus would spout.
