Cara Cara oranges are available now at reasonable prices. Not quite a
blood orange, but sweeter than navels, IMO.

Yes, they can be very tasty. I find though that taste depends (I suppose)
on how they have been refrigerated, &c.

Sometimes they are blissfully delectable, but sometimes it is apparent
they have been 'working on the railroad, all the live-long day'.

I have always preferred the more tart taste of Minneolas. In-season from
California are better than the Florida warehoused. Either way, they are a
mess to peel; you might as well just halve them and use a juicer.

I always use M&Ms (Minneolas & Meyers) when I need to do up a new batch
of zest for my citrus pepper mix. It's getting close to that time of year
again.

I agree that for whatever reason, they can vary a lot. I recall buying
Cara Caras about 20 years ago for 10 cents each. For a couple of
weeks I was eating probably 40-50 of them a week. Last week I
polished off a 3# bag of mandarins at one go.

And then add a little sucralose. What sort of juicer do you have?
This is a great price for one of these.

I have juiced thousands of citrus fruits, and abused mine to the
point of triggering the thermal shutdown a few times, but it just
keeps on going like that pink bunny. They haven't made them for
over 20 years. There's an NOS that's a great deal too.

If you don't have one, you really should. I have a bigger Cuisinart,
but it doesn't have the kickass juicer.

The one that looks like half of a big benevolent butt-plug.

Once they get to a certain size, benevolence becomes
a hard sell.

I've never tried sucralose on grapefruit. I love salt on grapefruit.

I used to do that as well. Salt and a little pepper on cantaloupe.
