White bread, lots of butter, thick slices of cucumber and salt and
freshly ground black pepper. Yum, Yum ;)
Fresh picked cucumber.
I've already made sour cream cucumber salad.
Cucumbers and zucchini are all that I have so far. Crappy spring.
I'm waiting on tomatoes.
I'm already planning next year because this year was so bad.

If you'd have cut the crusts off that bread you could have shown up at any
wedding with those sandwiches and catered the affair.

What are "fridge pickles"? I put up fermented pickles but those are
kept at room temperature and don't go into the fridge until fermented
to a point I want, could take 3-4 weeks for half sours, some like full
sours and that can take 5-6 weeks and longer. Once placed in he
fridge fermentation stops. I've been preparing pickles all my life
but I've never heard the term "fridge pickles"... most pickles sold at
market are cooked, canned, and never refrigerated. Those are what
fast food joints use on their mystery meat burgers, disgusting, not
even pickles. Real fermented pickles are never placed in a
sandwich/burger, always served on the side... properly fermented are
the best part of the meal. Besides the mystery meat burgers another
reason I don't eat at fast food joints, those disgusting canned
pickles.

It's obvious you don't know anything about cooking if you've
never heard of refrigerator pickles.

Here's recipe. I know you won't like them because they're vinegared.

OMG, I've never even heard of refrigerator pickles and neither has my
wife. What on earth have we been eating all these years?

It's an American thing. I wouldn't expect you to know about it.

For one thing, your goat barn has to have a refrigerator ;)

Yes. Tsatziki is best made with fresh cucumbers. I'm just about to
go down to the creek and pick mint. I originally planted it along
the creek bank to stabilize the creek during flood times. But mint
likes to take over and I don't care down there so I have a wonderful
mint field. My husband will be using the string trimmer down there
today and the entire neighborhood will smell of mint. It grows back
really fast.

Seriously, refrigerator pickles are made (typically) by pouring a
hot, flavored, salted, vinegar solution over vegetables (or fruit)--
usually right into a canning jar full of the produce. They are not
water-bath processed, but after a short marination period in the
refrigerator are ready to eat. They don't last a long time because
they're not preserved, as such. Most people make only enough at one
time for themselves and their friends to enjoy before they go bad.

Too heavy for me. I'll take a vodka gimlet or a daiquiri.

That grasshopper sounds like a girlie drink. Gimlets aren't bad. I
only had one experience with them. We were were at a camp in Algonquin
park and our next door neighbour invited us over for cocktails. He was
using his Daiquiri Whacker to make them. Seriously, he had a gas
powered blender. It was hilarious.

Back in the 1970's, at a party, I downed a 2 ounce shot
of plain green creme de menthe. That was an experience.
Didn't need to use mouthwash for a month afterwards. ;)

Which reminds me of another thread. I’m pretty sure that I couldn’t
identify "gimlet eyes" behind a mask.

Similar to and reminds me of the Kentucky Derby traditional
treat... Benedictine sandwiches or dip with crackers.

I tried that either last year or the year before.
Nice food treat.

Some days, I'd just opt for a plain or spicy can of V8. Less hassle. And dumping in a swig of vodka couldn't hurt.
