Hello fellow drinkers.... I am looking for some new innovative drink recipes...
I am tired of the usual Rum & Cokes, Gin & Tonics, etc... I would love to
acquire some of the specialty drinks that some of your favorite bar tenders
love to concoct... Please help me... Thanks...

This is more of a novelty drink (and kinda gross if you think about
it):

Brain Hemorrhage

In a tall shot glass pour 1 oz well chilled Peach Scnapps. On this,
float 1.5 t of Bailey's Irish Cream and just off to the side of the
Bailey's pour about .5 t of grenadine. If done correctly, the name
pretty much describes the concoction in the jigger.

nother Favorite:

Mind Eraser

The measurements on this drink vary, make it as large as you think
you can handle (becareful, this is a POTENT drink).

You need 1 part of Kahlua, 1 part Everclear, and 2 parts Sprite (or
7-Up or ginger ale or some sweet carbonated beverage). In a tall
thin shot glass pour the Kahlua followed by the Everclear and finally
the Sprite. You want to take care in pouring as you will want to
create a "layered" effect (I find this works best if the Kahlua and
Everclear are < 32F). For those who prefer a more sane alcohol,
Vodka may be substituted for Everclear.

Drink this by inserting a straw down to the bottom of the glass
(the straw should be in the Kahlua) and take a long quick draw
trying to get to the Sprite as quick and as painless as possible.

Yep, these are really dangerous- the way I learned to make them called
for equal parts of Kahlua, Vodka (Everclear sounds *deadly*), and
club soda (i.e. unsweetened carbonated beverage)....

well, if you like "fruity" drinks, and have a well-stocked bar:

Matt's Magical Fruity Elixir

Equal parts:
strawberry schnapps
triple sec
creme de banana schnapps
peach schnapps
Grand Marnier (or Cointreau)
grenadine

add to taste (usually about two parts each)
7-up
orange juice

blend with crushed ice

serve

If you know someone with access to liquid nitrogen, you should
really try this:

Glacier
_______

Put about a shot of vodka and a drop of blue food coloring in a
plastic baggie. Dip in liquid nitrogen to freeze the vodka into
a little blue lump (the glacier). Peel it away from the bag, and
float it in orange juice (or whatever you want). Neat.

A group of students (myself included) recently held a party on the roof
of the building. Somebody upturned a solar collector and filled it with
orange juice, various softdrinks, fruit salad and a couple of bottles of cheap
vodka. For effect dry ice was added... unfortunately this caused the whole
thing to freeze, with the exception of the alcahol from the vodka .. which,
if my memory serves me correctly, was consumed... possibly by me.......

OK, I feel like being picky today... good as this drink may be, I don't think
it's correctly called a Sea Breeze. It's been a long time, but I recall two
drinks having vodka and cranberry juice, a "Cape Codder" and a "Sea Breeze".
The only difference is that one has grapefruit juice added, and I don't
know which is which (gee, Dan, you're just a *bundle* of information today...)
but I think the S.B. has the grapefruit.

ObDrinkRecipe:
Painkiller (the Official drink of the British Virgin Islands)
4 oz pineapple juice
1 oz orange juice
2 oz cream of coconut
2 oz rum (technically, only Pusser's Rum, but use a different dark rum if you must)
*Freshly* grated nutmeg (super-top-secret-ingredient)
Mix liquids in a tall glass with ice, grate nutmeg on top. Take it up to
the bow with some cheese and crackers, sit and watch the hawksbill turtles and
parrotfish swim around the reefs...

The breezes always get me confused, and I'm a professional! But here
goes:

Cape Cod: Vodka and cranberry
Greyhound: Vodka and grapefruit
Sea Breeze: Vodka, cranberry and grapefruit
Madras: Vodka, cranberry and OJ
Bay Breeze: Vodka, cranberry and pineapple

And for my own contribution, try a Kamikaze -- vodka (2 parts), triple
sec (1 part) and lime juice (1 part). Often done as a shooter but good
on the rocks too. For a more luxuriant version, substitute Grand Marnier
for the triple sec. For a colorful version, substitute Blue Curacao for
the triple sec.

Cheers, Denny

... I'm not commenting on the drinks, but just on the fact that there are a
lot of drinks that have different names in different locales. It's not
likely that you'd find a Cape Codder over here in Vancouver... I was a
bartender for three years, and I found a lot of regional variation on names
from customers within Canada and outside the country as well.

Chimayo Cocktail (from Rancho de Chimayo in New Mexico)

My dad always makes this at Christmas. It's very crisp and tastes good hot or
cold.

6 oz. tequila (Sauza is good, anything a plastic sombrero cap is bad -
seriously - good tequila is the key)
1 oz creme de cassis
12 oz apple juice
1 oz lemon juice

Mix all ingredients and serve over ice. If serving hot, put a few cloves in
when you heat up the brew.

The thing I was drinking that was called a Sea Breeze, was Rum, Orange Juice,
and Cranberry Juice. But then, that was in Florida, too.

Well..., in the interests of professionalism, what do you call a vodka
and cranberry in Vancouver? (Other than a vodka and cranberry, of course!)
I have to admit it took me a while to get used to people asking for
Greyhounds (Oh, you mean a vodka and grapefruit?). That maybe a
regionalism, since most NYers don't call 'em Greyhounds.
How 'bout it? Any takers for a list of regional drink names?

REGIONAL?????? Here at Purdue U. in the middle of Indiana, the drink
names vary from bar to bar. Maybe it's a college town trick to get you
to stay in one bar since you are usually too drunk to figure out the
drink name in the bar across the street....

Yes, Dan, yer right. The Sea Breeze has the grapefruit and vodka (also
called a Greyhound.). Salting the rim a la margarita creates a
variation known as a Salty Dog.

Now, I remember. About 12 years ago I spent a spring/summer drinking
(is this why I didn't remember?) "Grace Jones."

I forget the proportions but it was vodka, midori (a melon liquor), and
pinapple juice.

Two for the strong......

ZOMBIE
1 part Bundaburg OverProof Rum
1 part Bundaburg UnderProof (dark) Rum
1 part Bicardi Gold
1 part Bicardi White

Mix in tumbler over a single block of ice. Add a slice of lemon to
taste.

The second is one a found an old guy drinking in Hyde Park, Sydney....
1 part methylated spirits
1 part brown boot polish
Top up with Orange juice.

Serve in anything you can find.

I don't know the significance of the brown ... I've never had the guts to
try this ... *and neither should you*

If someone walks into a bar and wants the glass looking like the Ukraine flag, then you still have to make the colors of the liquor in the glass look that way. Fad or no.
