I rinsed the heck out of the drip basket and may pour the swill down the drain!

I make my Hot Strong Black Sumatran strong for a REASON! I make coffee correctly, most times! :-(

I washed and rinsed out the grounds basket really well, made another pot and it was fine!

I once had a galvanized steel bucket which started to rust.

Then I left da loo, and headed to somewhere.

I had that happen once.
Washing out your grounds basket didn't help.
The next pot of coffee unclogged your drip part above the basket.

Drip machines need to be cleaned occasionally depending on your water.
If you had read the instructions when you first bought it, it tells you
to clean the machine occasionally.

Run a pot of white vinegar through it to clean, followed by a couple of
pots of clean water to rinse well (no coffee grounds).

If you don't do this, you'll get another weak pot someday soon or it can
even just stop working altogether.

Buy citric acid in bulk. It's good for all kinds of stuff.

I got a free, curbside Krups espresso maker that was clogged with calcium.
It took a few repeated tanks of citric acid to get it cleaned out. The old
owner must have used it for years to get that much buildup. We've been
using it for several years, at least once a day. Citric acid is way cheaper in
larger sizes. I also buy sodium percarbonate (oxygen bleach) and sodium
tripolyphosphate in large sizes, as well as pure sucralose and ascorbic acid
(vitamin C). I make refeshing citrus cocktails with water, freshly squeezed
grapefruit juice, ascorbic acid and sucralose.

Hot vinegar really does smell awful.

I do not drink Poisons anymore. I got sick of the deleterious effects then next day.

And cleaning out the drip bucket on my Coffee Maker fixed my too-weak coffee problem, so now I have a nice STRONG Cuppa Plus in front of me on a COLD COLD morning, 18F in The Lou this AM.

I don't have a problem with the caffeine, but coffee bothers my stomach. I drink
coffee milk ~1:10, 1:12, because I find it delicious, but I get most of my caffeine from
caffeine tablets. They're cheap (like 4¢ each) and they don't cause reflux.

There's a deli a few miles from here that has fresh pickles, basically

Yeah, I guess that is the snag there. Putting CDB oil into a good cup

class and adding Coke or some other kind of pop.

I made a weak cup of coffee recently. I didn't stand by and wait for the coffee to brew but why the heck should I do that if I got other things to do? When my wife got her cup, it was terribly weak. I assumed that the filter folded over in the coffee maker but when I checked, everything was in order. The coffee I made this morning was perfect. My wife says that nobody makes a cup as good as I. My coffee is better than anything I can get outside the house. Why I can't get a proper cup of coffee when somebody else makes it is a mystery. Why that single cup of coffee was bad is a mystery. My Asian background is quite accepting of mystery. I'll just chalk it up to evil spirits.

I used to use a giant can of lemonade mix to clean my dishwasher. My guess it was cheaper and easier to get than using citric acid but the idea was the same. It was about 7 bucks from Costco. It worked sweet but I wouldn't recommend that anybody try it. The corrosive action of the mix caused the aluminum filter to clog up with some kind of oxidation.

I made myself an amazingly good latte this morning. I am not sure why it
was so much better than usual. I can make a good pot of coffee, but
there are only of us here so it is not worth it to make a big pot. My
wife can make a pretty good cup of coffee in the French press, but I
never have much luck with that.

The corner bakery/coffee shop makes amazing coffee. They use Fair Trade
beans and each day they usually offer a choice of two blends and one
flavoured coffees. I prefer to have my coffee there so I can sit and my
crossword. We are locked down here for the month so eating in is not an
option so these days I pick up a coffee to go. I stick it in the
microwave for about 30 seconds to warm it up.

You have t excuse Bruce the sniper. He is a little thick. The microwave
is a good way to warm up coffee. I did specify 30 seconds, which is
enough to warm it up without overheating it and turning it bitter.

I have been served Keurig coffee at friends' homes. It is okay, but the
coffee sometimes tastes like instant. My niece had a Nespresso and it
made really good coffee. The machines are expensive. The pods are
expensive and can be hard to find. The closest place I could get the
pods is 15 miles from home.

One of the strangest coffee shops I have been to served Keurig coffee.
Their claim to fame was their wide range of coffee flavours. The deal
was that you go in and select the flavour you want and the counter
person would stick it into the machine and make a fresh cup of coffee
with it.

Americans love coffee. Perhaps not as much as other cultures. All I know is that I can't purchase a proper cup of coffee. That's pretty silly.
I recently had a tea/coffee drink. It tastes exactly how you'd think it taste. This is a great innovation. Now you don't have to choose one or the other. You can have both!

When I had an office, the Keurig gave me a chance to offer a cup of coffee that was better than instant. Thanks Keurig! OTOH, the machine had problems with the water metering system - the filling levels were inconsistent or even non-existent. It's either a design problem or there's a ghost in the machine.

Then you have to have good hot water, and remember NEVER boil the coffee. That's why Marge could nevere make a good pot of coffee, because she used a percolator which DOES boil the coffee!

I don't recall any "threesomes" being mentioned, because there were none.
Men who are not nudists walk around nude in locker rooms, and no one
makes a big deal about it. I don't find nudity or sexuality scary, and my
comment addressed the fact that persons often engage in private fantasies
in their own minds during partner sex, most of which are not typically shared
with their partners. Do you deny that phenomenon? I laugh at prudes, but I
also pity them.

John, we had one float where we swam nude, which is not abnormal. I am
glad that I will never associate with you again in the real world, and it has
nothing to do with your physical body, but with your personhood. You are
not the first former friend/acquaintance that I have excluded from my life
for what I felt were good reasons, but you're the only one that I have
anything to do with because you followed me to this NG. I wish you'd
leave, but I'm not hopeful, as you seem to have little else in your life.

One thing I've noticed - people buy a keurig machine, rave about it for
a couple of months, then put it away in a cabinet and go back to regular
coffee making.

That's about the only time I drink hot coffee. At home, I drink it cold with
lots of milk, and now when we're on vacation we make a bunch of
espresso ahead of time and bottle it. We keep it in the cooler with the
gallon of milk, so we can stop any time and mix up a cold one.

Good grief! 10 minutes of smelling hot vinegar, once every few years,
is so horrible? Open a window. You're not cooking, you're cleaning.

You two have obviously never had good steamed/boiled shrimp or live crabs.

- 50/50 vinegar and water with plenty of Old Bay Seasoning, or your own
favorite spice mix.

Regular just means what you were used to drinking before the keurig machine.

I switch occasionally. Drip machine, french press and currently the
inferior instant (but it's quick and easy).

Best cups of coffee I remember was from an old stovetop perculator and
also from 7-11.

Worse cup of coffee was plain coffee from Starbucks. Once and only once.
Or maybe my current instant.

More often than once every few years. Once every few months. Martha
Stewart recommends once a month, but that's ridiculous.

And why smell it at all if I don't have to?

We have very hard water from our well so I have to clean out the coffee
makers frequently. It takes considerably longer to get rid of the
residual vinegar than the vinegar treatment. CLR will work better and
faster than vinegar, but the residual problem is way worse. I try to
keep some extra strength vinegar on hand for descaling coffee makers and
my distiller.

I don' mind Starbucks coffee. The snooty staff and entitled hipster
hording the limited seating are more of a problem for me than the
coffee. Tim Hortons used to have good coffee but they cheaped out and
the coffee was crap. They have tried several changes over the years but
it still sucks. They are now pushing their latest change.

The best ever coffee is from the corner bakery coffee shop. That stuff
is amazing.

But I bet it's more expensive than S/Bux.
I favor patronising locally owned and therefore Canadian places. However,
the coffee at the S/Bux that I frequent is cheaper and at least as good as
the nearby Calgary-owned coffee bars. The service is better too. Also, one
of those bars has been warned about cleanliness and has been closed down
twice for ignoring covid restrictions.
