Something I like but it's been about 10 years since I've made it.

I used the old Betty Crocker recipe. The only slight change I made was
with the bread.

It calls for 4 slices of white bread. Well that's fairly thin and soft
so I used 4 slices of the thicker and more dense Pepperidge Farm Italian
Bread. It's cooked in a bread pan and is rectangular and sliced.

It's cooking now in a water bath in the oven. 350 for 65-70 minutes.

Should be pretty tasty. If not, I'll adjust the recipe next time.
Probably 10 years from now. lol

Tomorrow morning, I'm making an onion, potato, vegetable casserole. That
one will be good. I'll make my own thickened chicken sauce to pour over
that.

My mother used to make bread pudding except at our house it was called
'cold biscuit pudding.' It wasn't served cold it was made from leftover (cold)
biscuits and I've never tasted any that came near hers or even remotely had
the same taste or texture. But don't get me wrong, I'll be first in line when
bread pudding is served!

I have made it from croissants and that was VERY good and VERY rich;
quite buttery since I added even more butter to the makings.

I love bread pudding. I would make it more often but my wife doesn't
like it because of the carbs.

Bread pudding is so good. It's been a long time since I heard anyone
mention it. Now I must make some!

I like to make bread and butter pudding (I know it's different) with a
caramel base. I suppose one could do the same with a bread pudding.

I would probably be first in line to be served at your house if you
made this.

You can try it by making it:-)
Make a caramel by boiling 300g/10oz sugar in 200ml/7fl.oz water until the
caramel is golden brown. Pour this into a 1.5l/2.75pt dish and set aside
while you make the warm custard mix from eggs milk and cream to pour over
and soak the bread. Bake at 320F for about 55-60 minutes.

Caramelized sugar is lovely, and super cheap to make.

That seems like an awful lot of water for that amount of sugar. You
need just enough water to dissolve the sugar, and then that has to
boil off before the sugar will start to darken.

So make it more often. Wife doesn't like, leaving it all for you!

It turned out very good! I'll *try* to make it last a few days. I will
make it more often though, just not too often.

It turned out even better that I thought. I'll make it again and the
same exact recipe.

Delayed until tomorrow morning (Tuesday)

The chicken is in the stock/broth that I use.

> And whwere's the garlic potatoes?

John uses up all the garlic potatoes so I'll use them plain.
