Late last week we went to WM for some groceries , and while there I
checked the meat cases . We don't buy out meat there , but I wanted to
check stock - and the coolers were nearly empty . Today I went to our
local chain for some milk since Max and I finished our last gallon this
morning for our coffee . And while I was there , I checked the meat
cases . Well stocked , just like they always are . In fact , I picked up
3 packages of country style ribs for under 2 bucks per pound . Another
item WM's cooler cases aren't full of is butter and margarine . The
local chain ... well , I picked up 2 pounds of the margarine my wife
prefers (I use butter) and there were plenty more in the case . The
contrast ? WM buys "globally" , the local chain buys "locally" . Our
local's supply chain is much shorter , I think probably 75% of the stock
comes from suppliers/wholesalers within 200 miles of our area .

I never buy groceries at WM. Yes, it's a "Super" WM. I did wander
through the grocery section early last year (waaay before anyone ever
heard of Covid-19) just to check it out. There was practically no meat
to speak of in the meat cases, very little in the way of dairy products.
The freezer cases were nearly empty. They did have a nice selection
of fresh vegetables (which surprised me) but overall, it certainly
didn't inspire me to make it a regular stop for groceries.

A gallon is a lot of milk for coffee for two.

Be nice.

I, on average, buy a gallon a milk per week. Sometimes it's just a half
gallon if I still have a good bit of the previous gallon left over.

Max is his dog and he's spoken of him several times in the past.

Curs are known to be quite headstrong . Very active breed , and he likes

I let him - and he absolutely hates armadillos , he'll kill one if he
can catch it . As long as Max is by my side , there's nothing in the
woods I'm afraid of ... these guys were originally bred by early
Appalachian settlers from European cur stock crossed with the dogs the

I buy a half a gallon of milk every week. I drink it, I cook with it.

Walmart is the cheapest overall for groceries here. I buy organic, grass fed
beef there. Before this virus, I would sometimes find it marked down. I'd
usually buy it all and freeze it. I will occasionally buy a name brand of
chicken breasts. Mostly I buy frozen foods there, but also cheese, sometimes
bread, crackers, tortillas, pasta and milk. They have organic canned
lentils.

Winco brand canned vegetables are cheaper and so are their paper towels. I
used to alternate between stores, but Angela said the lines are far too long
there. so I haven't been there in months. I do have her pick me up some
cottage cheese when she goes because they have the Alpenrose brand and

I don't drink milk but my wife goes through more than a gallon every
week with her tea... and I use some in cooking and with cereal.
Dogs and cats shouldn't be given milk as once full grown they become
lactose intolerant and so they throw up. I did buy Lactaid vanilla
icecream to medicate a cat, a lot easier than trying to force a pill
down their throat... and then shortly after they swallow it they throw
it up under the bed. I use a pill crusher that turns the pill into
powder, then mixed with the Lactaid they lap it up.

Uh, okay. Whenever I had to pill Persia (RB) I tucked it into a
Greenie's Pill Pocket. Sometimes she'd just eat the pill pocket and I'd
find the pill on the floor. So, barring that, her vet taught me to just
open her mouth (gently), pop in a pill, hold her mouth shut and gently
stroke her throat. This causes them to reflexively swallow and down
goes the pill.

I'm not much interested in Disney. The only Disney movie I can recall
seeing was 'Cinderella'. The version featuring cast members from
Downton Abbey. Lily James, who played 'Lady Rose' on Downton and was
relegated to the role of cooking, cleaning, scrubbing out fireplaces,
hence the name Cinder-ella. Sophie McShera, who was the downstairs
scullery maid 'Daisy' on Downton Abbey, this time got to play one of the
spoiled upstairs step-sisters.

Canned lentils. Is that like the canned wild rice you bought online? I

Well we weren't talking about the "food desert" that apparently exists
in Bothell. Snag/Terry lives in Arkansas. I live in South Carolina.
Snag's wife recently retired from Walmart and even he's not happy with
their supply chain. Neither am I. One look through their grocery
section was enough for me to realize I won't depend on Walmart for food.

As he said, their supply chain is stretched too far and can't possibly
maintain a good supply of anything across the entire country. I went
there well before the panedemic and found it lacking. The meat was
"select" which is a piss-poor grade.

My main grocery store is regional. Publix is based out of Florida and
they source locally whenever possible. Walmart doesn't care. That's
why they are unable to keep things in stock right now. Their supply
lines have been curtailed.

Too long lines at Winco? Would you rather just buy cheap food and bitch
about it here?

Meanwhile you let your "gardener" eat up all your supplies. Does he
even pay for anything? Never mind, I think I know the answer.

I never say boobies or boobs... breasts are bosoms... extra large ones

chicken, turkey, beef... but never fish. Go figure.

I suppose you've heard the news that, because they are in financial
trouble, Victoria's Secret and Smith & Wesson have been bought up by
venture capitalists. They will merge them and the new company will be
known as "Titty Titty Bang Bang".

Just like people...differing tastes. Mr.Kitty loved all seafood
flavored cat food but never any other meat flavored.

His twice a year...Christmas and birthday in May, special treat
was a combo of:

- one can of (human) tunafish packed in water
- one handful of his dry mix food
- drain the tuna water over the dry mix and stir
- then add the tuna meat
- and 1-2 chopped hardboiled eggs

MEOW! He loved that so much.

Hell yes! They are all different, just like people. My siamese cat
can detect *anything* you put in her food ... immediately. Popeye
thinks all cats are exact duplicates.

The only sure way to get her medicated is with two people. One
places her (feet down) on the bed so her claws can dig in. The
other person (me) grabs hold, so she can't run away. The first
person then pry her mouth open and shoves a pill syringe gizmo to
eject the pill at the rear of her mouth, then tilt her head upwards
and gently stroke her throat. Usually she will lick her nose after
she's swallowed the evil pill.

It's all over in less than a minute, and the cat even forgives
everyone after an hour or so :)

Julie, Botan rice on Amazon. 5lb bags. Dried beans are there often
enough but tend to be the larger bags. Varying to an ethnic store

Great! Prince is a charmer though as you can expect, he eats a lot
more than my 2 elder dogs who passed last year.

As the lettuce comes in, he has learned to NOT surf-feed it all but we
lost a lot of crop there until he got it (no, we didnt do anything
horrible to him, just used a harness leash for a bit and pulled him
back).

Admittedly my experience is minimal, but of the 4 dogs I have had, all
vastly prefer lettuce types to grass when that urge hits them.

He likes a portion of raw food added to his kibble but seems to not
like sweet potatoes/Yams. His preferred treats (of what we use) are
daikon cubes, shrimp heads, carrots, and the old favorite of bacon
(raw). Also likes the big chew bones (go figure!).

He's very old for a Great Dane (as I have posted) but seems overall
healthy. Neighborhood now calling him the 'Gentle Gentleman Giant' and
the 10-12 year olds get a rotation of running with him up the block and
back when Don walks him.

I never indicated that they would be offensive. Just a waste of
time and I was referring to anyone's links, not specifically
dsi1's youtube links.

If people would include a very short description of what the

I agree. I am not inclined to click on links to videos unless I have
some idea what they are about. I used to consider dsi to be a trusty
source, but I clicked on enough of his video links to realize they just
aren't of much interest to me.

On a related note.... when someone shows up here out of the blue and
posts a link I definitely do not click on it.

Why yes, if only people would do what we wanted them to do, life would certainly be sweet, eh? As we all know, Americans don't like being told what to do - things like wearing a mask when among others or self-quarantining.

If you ask me, you should be wishing for stuff that's important, instead of stupid. (sigh)

I've been self-quarantining for 2 months now and I do wear a mask
when going to a store. Grocery store with mask today...first trip
out in 15 days.

What is your problem? I certainly hope your attitude doesn't
represent all of Hawaii. If this gets out, you'll lose your
valuable tourist industry. Even though you're not part of
that industry, it does affect your prices of everything.

As I just posted, I look at all your food pics as they always
look and sound good. Plus I know that I'm clicking on a link
of your meal.

Your constant youtube links however come with no explanation
and I've learned long ago not to waste my time. Most always
not something that interests me. This isn't all about you
personally either. I click on no one's youtube links unless
they clue me in on what I'll see.

As I have said, I don't care if you guys click on the link or not. If I got paid per click, you can bet your ass that I'd be real accommodating. If you want me to do something for you, you gotta do something for me. The old adage is true - what's in it for me?

As far as the tourist industry goes. The Hawaiians are real accommodating. You can have anything you want as long as you pay for it. What we won't accommodate is you guys thinking we're your slaves.

That said, the problem we're having is that idiots are still coming here during this quarantine period. We can handle this covid-19 thing by ourselves but people have to stop flying in spreading their germs.

When tourists fly in, they're told they'll have to spend 2 weeks seeing the sights at various colorful locations inside their hotel rooms. It's like being in prison except the food's a little better and your ass is in solitary the whole time. Of course, as we all know, Americans don't like to be told what to do - things like wearing a mask when among others or self-quarantining. Then we have to accommodate them and will hand out free gifts for their stupidity.

I can make them fit the screen, but then they're as wide as the
screen. I have to bring lunch to read one sentence.

The same goes for GM's post, but there's one advantage. They're not
worth reading :)

I'll sometimes click music links if I can use sound. Right now it's
04:40 am and it wouldn't be appreciated.

LOL though, guess the wording lead to that.

Anyways, with Prince, suddenly 50lb bags make sense but are too heavy
for us to handle. We are generally going with 22lb bags which last him
about 2.5 weeks.

His muzzle is greying out as he's no spring chicken but he's enjoying a
final home. For a year, maybe 2 if we are very very lucky.

Thanks for laughing it off. Certainly no offense intended.

Very nice of you to take on such a large responsibility. Rather
than good christians that go to church 6 days a week and think
they are so special, people like you that care for others are
the truly good people.

How about a pic sometime of your giant dog? I wouldn't mind
seeing one or two.

I had a nearby neighbor long ago that had a great dane.
Very friendly doggie.

That was in 1973-74 when I lived not far from you now.
It was a townhouse right next to Plaza Apartments off
South Plaza Trail.

Thanks! I do little stuff all the time for people. I'd been watching
him off and on for quite a bit (or Don was if I was at work). He was
only mine recently, under sad circumstances. His choices were me, or
some sort of Great Dane rescue for his final year or 2. I think he's
near 11 now? Average age tops out at 9 for them but 10 isn't that
uncommon if well cared for and since I adopt older pets, I know what to
do and how to feed them right.

> How about a pic sometime of your giant dog? I wouldn't mind

Will do but he's fairly standard for the breed. His ears were not
docked so doesn't have that distinctive pointy shape but I like him
better as nature intended. He's the classic tan, white and black with
greying muzzle.

Humm, you mean the big Plaza apartments of N Plaza? You'd be heading
south then from VB BLVD. (For others, most just call it Plaza Trail as
it flops name to that for most of it's distance). I seem to recall
some townhouses pretty close to that.

Maybe not, but the vet also suggested hiding her pill in canned
water-packed tuna and she wouldn't eat that, either. She hated all
fishy type cat food. So much for "all cats love fish".

There he goes again making sweeping statements about all Americans. As
if he isn't one.

I've been self-quarantining for two months at least. Not a problem for
me since I really don't feel the need to congregate or socialize with a
bunch of people. I'm perfectly happy with books and my cat and waving
at neighbors when I go to the mailbox. Bird watching and just had a
bunch of does (deer) come wandering up as I sit here at my desk.

I limit contact with people and maintain a 6 foot distance when I'm
shopping. Last time I went I wore a scarf tied like a bandana.

I think he likes to stir stuff up. Ophelia hangs on his every word as
if it's the gospel about what goes on in the United States. I don't get
it. In another thread that drifted to generators and power outages he
told Cindy she'd be better off (during an extended electric outage) to
run her central air conditioning using the battery from her electric
car. Um, she doesn't have an electric car. Even if she did, it's a
stupid idea.

He's as bad as Kuthe if he thinks anyone could (or should) power central
air using a car battery for any length of time. The battery would run
down in hours and hey, if the power is out, how could she recharge the
car battery. Answer is, she couldn't. That's why she bought a gas
generator in the first place.

He talks a lot but he doesn't say much. I'm not planning to live on
kelp or 3-D printed faux food in my lifetime, either. Heh.

I've looked at some of his food pictures. They look fine but the
majority seem to be take-out meals.

Of course you would. Too bad most of the food pics and food related
things he talks about seems to be restaurant take-out. And gross
exaggerations about what actually is going on in the US. Despite what
you seem to think, he doesn't have his finger on the pulse of the entire
country. He's got you convinced everyone hated President Obama.
President Obama was elected twice.

But please, feel free to continue your adoration for dsi1 and his
pronouncements about everything USian.

Try moving out of your enclave existence sometimes and see the world as it really is. You're totally clueless about how our nation became divided under the Obama administration. You have forgotten how partisan our legislative branch had become during his presidency. The division of our country is a legacy that still exists today and encouraged/exploited by our fearless leader for political gain.

You seem to be totally unaware that many Americans at the time believed that this black man was not even an American. There were and still are still some birthers on rfc. A lot of American believed that Obama was of the Islamic faith. It was lies promoted and exploited by our fearless leader and others of his ilk. The reality is that, since 2016, pitting one half of our country against the other half makes for good political strategy.

As far as electric cars goes, you might have missed the implication of an America filled with cars carrying 100 to 150 kWhs of power storage capacity, but I sure didn't.

You believing that most of the pictures I take are of restaurant food is mostly a testament to my cooking and photographic abilities.

You best stick with what you know - bland food and gossiping.

I understand that your lame taunts might work well with juveniles and young adults but they won't work on someone of my age. I just think it's unfortunate that a perve-bully like you is allowed to have contact with young people. My guess is that you've messed up quite a few of them in your career.

A 100kWh battery could power a household for about 4 days. A 200kWh battery could power a house for about twice that long.

You don't appear to have been paying attention prior to 2008. The country
was already divided, and the divide was growing. Yes, Obama widened that
divide rapidly, but his election didn't cause it.

If it were trying to power my entire house, including the hot tub, it
wouldn't last nearly that long. I consumed 2088 kWh last month.

Full disclosure: like the clothes dryer, the hot tub isn't on the
generator transfer switch. If we had a prolonged winter power outage,
we'd drain the hot tub and clear the pump so it wouldn't burst.

Yikes, Cindy! I consumed 195 kWh last month.

I just paid the bill yesterday so I happened to have
the info right here on my desk this morning.
My bill was $32.56

And with many minor things turned on almost 24/7 too.
- 2 lights (led)
- 2 fans (bedroom and bathroom)
- TV and 2 clocks
- answering machine
- one computer
- fridge (naturally)

And many other things turned off and on as necessary.

Looking at my "Usage History" on the bill, my highest
usage was last July. 679 kWh.

That was a very hot, humid and miserable damn month
and the AC stayed on often. Early mornings were the
worst with humidy and no wind. Wearing only a t-shirt
and shorts, I would start sweating just walking from
my front door to my van - about 40 steps.

Some cats sure do. Mr.Kitty here would only eat fish
flavored food. He loved "Meow Mix" too for dried stuff.
That must have had a slight fish taste (?)
