Open Post: Hosted By Campbell’s Soup-Scented Candles

January 13, 2022 / Posted by: Kristian

"It’s time for you soup lovers out there to waste your money! Have
you ever wanted your house to smell like delicious soup but not
get to eat it? Campbell’s has you covered! Now you can fill your
whole home with the essence of Campbell’s soup in new candle forms.

Campbell’s is actually late to the party because Food And Wine says
that food candles have been popping off. Recently, IKEA released
a meatball-scented candle, and McDonald’s has a Quarter
Pounder-scented candle.

Launching today, the soup giant has teamed up with the
experience-oriented retail brand Camp to release candles
in two signature Campbell’s scents: Chicken Noodle Soup
and Tomato Soup & Grilled Cheese. The former is said to
offer “notes of savory chicken, cloves and buttery crackers” while
the latter is billed as featuring “roasted tomato, peppercorn
and gooey grilled cheese.”

Design-wise, Campbell’s says the look of the candles was
inspired by the brand’s recent stackable snowman cans
(you even pull the top off like a soup can) which themselves
are a tie-in to Campbell’s animated “Snowbuddy” television
commercial. To further hammer that connection home, once
melted down, the candle contains a small “Snowbuddy”
snowman figure that customers can keep after the wax is gone.

Campbell’s chief marketing officer for Meals & Beverages, Linda
Lee, says “The magic of winter sparks fond memories. Campbell’s
is excited to continue our mission of creating family moments
and memories for all through our partnership with Camp.”

Camp and Campbell are selling 2000 of these candles for
$24 each. They will donate 10% of the proceeds to Feeding
America. Why not just feed America with their actual soup?
Unclear.

Welp, no need to spend tons of money on one of Gwyneth
Paltrow’s orgasm-scented candles. I mean, who wouldn’t
come in their pants immediately after smelling some
delicious, salty soup? The scent of orgasms will be achieved
naturally!"
