I buy Nalley chili for our occasional chili dogs. The other day I
brought home a can from Winco because the price was better than
Costco. Hmmm. It wouldn't fit nicely on the shelf. Is the Winco can
smaller? I checked today. Winco cans are 14 ounces and Costco cans
are 15 ounces. This isn't the first time I've noticed that Costco
often gives you just a bit more in boxes and cans.

Cost called "No Product Downsizing" probably a decade ago. It
started with the ever shrinking tuna cans. The tuna went back to 7
or 7.5oz while grocery store cans keep shrinking.

I've been on a chili dog binge lately (6-8 months), but trying to
find the best chili for a chilli dog is pretty hard. The best
previously was the Austx-Castleberry brand of chili dog sauce, made
mostly from smashed beans (no real meat IIRC). But the FDA shut
them down after killing 14 people with botulism. Now they are
different products made by a different company.

We don't have Nalley's here But the current winner for hot dogs is
Armor w/beans. Wolf and Whoremel, with or without beans, suck
balls.

I grew up eating Nalley chili. We had it quite a lot.

Canned chili is not something I've bought a lot of as an adult. When I do
buy it. it's usually Hormel. I did recently buy some Nalley at Winco.
Although not so horrible as to be disgusting, it wasn't very good either.
Had a lot of liquid and not too much solid food in there. Not the stuff I
remember as a child.

I'm so sorry about your experience, Julie. You just must have picked
up that one odd can of chili that was watery and not much beans and
meat. It does seem that sort of thing happens to you a lot.

BTW, this thread wasn't about canned chili, it was about some
supermarkets selling slightly larger or smaller containers at
approximately the same price.
