When he "first began living in Shared Student Living" he was a
marginally employed adult student. My impression of him is he's been a
professional student most of his adult life. He's the kind of child
"dad" doesn't want still living in his basement at the age of 35
dreaming of being a rock star. oh wait...
IMHO, phones and computers don't have anything to do with Kuthe's lack
of actual human contact. It is, perhaps, a lack of consideration which
might make people not want to interact with him in person. He
"flaunts". He flaunted his money to his almost g/f "April" at the bank.
That was when he was crowing about how rich he was.
Then there's thinking about it from his neighbors' POV. "Look at my
Pink and Purple Deck!" "Look at my copper!" Again, flaunting. Uh,
they really don't want to. They don't think it's cool. In fact the
neighborhood made him repaint the pink and purple deck.
He can't buy friends by spending the most money in the neighborhood to
fix up an old house. Or by proclaiming some Rainbow Tribe thing.
Kuthe's issue with not talking as "real people" isn't caused by
technology. It is a result of cause and effect.
