No food on 6.5 hour flight-typical?

I fly American Airlines only a couple of times a year, usually on short flights of an hour or two.

This week, I flew Anchorage-Dallas/Ft. Worth-New Orleans (economy).

Departure from ANC was at 6:15am with scheduled arrival at DFW 6.5 hours later.

Onboard, there was a drink service with Biscoff cookies.

When I asked about snack boxes for purchase (I had done a little research in anticipation of being hungry) I
was told by the friendly crew that there were none onboard.

They had almonds and potato chips on offer which is "what we usually have on this flight".

Fortunately, I had packed a few snacks but I was pretty hungry by the time we landed and have rarely appreciated
an airport Chick-fil-A so much!

I am accustomed to being able to purchase a snack box (JetBlue, Alaska, etc) on a long-ish flight which is really
handy when I am traveling from somewhere without a kitchen in which to prepare something to eat.

I know that many of you are regular American customers with many flights under your belt and am curious if this is typical of AA or some sort of fluke?

AA has been very inconsistent with buy on board food options since the pandemic. I can't discern any rhyme
or reason, but more often than not they have nothing available to buy in economy.

Considering this is longer than a coast to coast transcon, and their web site notes that meals are available on flights
2200 miles or longer, they should have had something more substantial than biscoffs on board.

Send a note to customer service and ask them how they stock food for a 3042 mile flight with next to nothing,
which also goes against what they advertise "Meals and non-alcoholic drinks available".

And then let them know the FA said it's a common practice.

You pasty, whiny, boys make me sick. When we was kids, all we had to eat on a plane was a ball of rice - and we was happy to get that. If yoose wants to eat a meal on a goddamn airplane, make sure you pack a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and carry it on, fool. You're probably too stupid to cook up a P&B sandwich so have your mommy make you one. You could also travel first class, like I do - idiot!

AA upgraded me out of LAX to Business class once. Elton John was in first.

Onkel Tojo - san, you ist ein "parvenu"...

parvenu:

noun

a person who has recently or suddenly acquired wealth, importance, position, or the like, but has not
yet developed the conventionally appropriate manners, dress, surroundings, etc....

USAGE:

"To Hawaii Dave, 'class' is a double - wide trailor home..."

"Instead of generously tipping the wait staff at that expensive new resto, Hawaii Dave
'gifted' them all with *one* bottle of Dom - from the wine list..."

"After Hawaii Dave got his new Bentley, he had it 'pimped out' as a low - rider, and painted it bright purple..."

Long ago, when I was in the army, I was going from one post to
another (military standby class). Elvis and his entourage were
in first class cabin. Bastards were even late and delayed the
goddamned flight.

Elvis was uncircumcised, and fondly referred to his weenie as " Lil' Elvis "...

I've never asked a guy before, did/do you prefer to
perform fellatio upon circumcised or uncircumcised
penises? That reminded me of this. Winter and Ian
on the Southwest Chief Amtrak near the Raton Pass.

********
“I was wondering if the pioneers who ventured here, if they
avoided intercourse, at least during times that could result in
pregnancy, and one more mouth to feed, or if they satisfied
each other in other ways. When I was barely a teenager, I was
curious whether my parents had oral sex.”
.
“Didn't you kind of figure?”
.
“No. I was the youngest of five, and I was no doubt an accident.
Add to that my parents never seeming to be particularly loving
toward each other, and given the prudery of Americans, it could
have gone either way. When I was older I thought about the
absurdity that every generation thinks that they were the first to
discover oral sex, or at least for it to be mainstream. Don't
laugh at me, Winter. It makes me feel old.”
.
“I'm not laughing *at* you, I'm laughing *with* you, except
you're not laughing, Mr. Diddy Wah Diddy.”
.
At that, Ian did laugh, “I don't know what that means,” but he
stood and beckoned Winter, glad that they weren't traveling
coach.

For me it wasn't really anyone 'famous'. Olene Walker, later to be
first female Governer of Utah but this was long before then. She was
next to me in economy. I was headed from SC thru Atlanta with a
layover in utah (salt lake city) then on to visit California relatives.

I was in first class a while back and I was seated next to a nice
looking girl.  I was looking through the inflight magazine and there was
an ad for AT&T cellular with the same lady.  I looked over at her, and
she said "yes, that's me".  Crazy coincidence!

1) I believe it. Those sorts of things do happen.

2) If you have never seen the show, check out
a few episodes of 'The Carbonero Effect'.

It's a live hidden-camera TV magic show.

He (Michael Carbonero) makes stuff like that
happen all the time. My guess is that some
of his tricks use hi-tech (Bluetooth &c).

For example, a trick like what happened to you
could be done by a hidden camera & printer
within the seat.

It usually takes me twice the air time to
watch a show because I repeatedly replay segments
to try to figure out how he does his tricks.

Most of us have heard about how Bob Crane would pay
hotel bartenders to put Hogan's Heroes on the TV to help
him pick up women for sex. Your post reminded me of
that.

Was Crane doing this during the show's first run or during syndication? Each city tv schedule for repeats was different so he had to check TV Guide for the time to be at the tavern.

I've seen that show and it's very well done.  This was so far back he
was probably 10 years old!

If the syndication distributor gave Crane the national schedule that would save Bob the task of looking for tv guides in every town. Also copies for LeBeau, Klink, Schultz and Richard Dawson.

But all could be at the bar during the HH broadcast and be offered free drinks or dinner.
