No only hacked, but trashed and they used it as a doorway to get to the host server. Needless to say the webhost killed the site.

So my cookbook website is completely ruined. I still have the archived shot, but now it's going to take completely rebuilding the site because the template was up for a couple of years and it's now not upgradable anymore.

What a pain. I'm going to have to go to a whole new template and site. Arg.

Don't know if anyone here used the HIzzoners.com site but if you did and need one of the recipes just ask here and I'll post it for you.

That's a shame and good luck rebuilding it somewhere else.

I'm so sorry to hear this! I've always enjoyed reading the recipes you
posted here from the Hizzoners site. I've saved a good number of them
over the years. What a PITA. Best of luck rebuilding. (Don't have a
backup?)

I'm not sure what all that precursor is that you mentioned, but your
website source code is still available in multiple instances at:

https://web.archive.org/web/*/HIzzoners.com

BTW, whoever laid that bullshit on you is full of shit and is
victim-blaming. There's absolutely NOTHING YOU can do to your
website that compromises THEIR servers - even if you give away all
your passwords, billing data, DNA, fingernail clippings, etc....

If somebody "broke in" through your website, that's that's on THEM
- not you. And you should get a refund for lost hosting services.

I see that GoDaddy is hosting your nameservice ... and <clickety
click> your site contents too. They need to restore from backups.
This is not your fault . And you're paid up for another 5 weeks of
nameservice (and probably hosting as well).

In the meantime your backups are on the link I previously provided
(and probably on your own PC as well)

On re-reading and doing some more checking, I don't think you were
hacked at all. GoDaddy disabled the server software that served your
legacy website that you've had for 11 years.

Have they asked you for any money to upgrade?

It's still possible that some kiddie did break into your site and
fucked it just for kicks, but its not likely that GoDaddy would
coincidently tell you your site is unrecoverable citing some
"template" problem unless they disabled some compatibility with
serving your ancient pages - and right before your renewal date.

I don't do web programming, only sever software. But could some kind
soul look at her source at archive.org and see what has been
possibly obsoleted at GogDaddy.com? Cindy maybe?

Oh Wait - I'd bet my left testicle that Cathy of
http://www.recfoodcooking.org/ could host your minimal site as a
SUB-URL of that domain - which would be perfect!. You might even be
able to piggyback hizzhoners.com nameservice to keep your domain
name cheaply. She has plenty of space and bandwidth she probably
doesn't use. This is your best bet. Email her!

Thank you Steve. I'm investigating further.

I would think all hosts these days now allow unlimited domains in one
hosting account. And unlimited bandwidth. Mine always has.

No reason not to keep the original domain name.

Since archive.org can be rather slow. Best to go directly to that last save
of the site.

Of course. She just sets up nameservice through whoever is hosting
Cathy's site. IIRC, it was somebody in South Africa. And Cathy's
pages are just as Ancient as Sitara's ;-) Her current hosting is
only paid of a few weeks anfd has cut her off, s screw them and
switch.

I realise this is a fairly old post, but I just tried to access your website
and failed. Not even a 404 or an indication that the site was under
construction.

That's because it's been taken down. I'm migrating the recipes to a Facebook Group named Hizzoner's Deli Cookbook Group. You can find them there.

Thank you for the link.

Not wishing to teach you to suck eggs, but couldn't you just have one page
with the original header and this link to the facebook page?

I am not a big facebook user and would never have thought to look there for
you.

Best of luck with the work involved.

I do not use FaceFUCK at all, as Mark Fuckerberg and FaceFUCK is neck deep in Surveillance Capitalism.
