There is no real update. I called the post office. I was told it was up to
us, the neighbors to get and install the new mailbox. Guy next door said BS.
He's not doing it. Guy on the other side of me isn't around. Spoke to the
dad next door to him. He never got back to me. We don't know the other
neighbors so... We're stuck at that.

Gardener is here because there is a pandemic and he's stuck here for the
time being. This according to the cops. Nobody can be evicted at this point
in time. He was moving out. Some bad things happened that I will not get
into (not involving me) and this delayed things. That's all I'm going to say
about that.

Naw. I am betting that you will say more about it. You have a need to
keep that little drama in your life going, and you don't want to
disappoint your fans.

It's that Bothell bubble again. She used the word "evict" but since he
is not a tenant paying her monthly rent, it does not constitute an
eviction. It's an attempt to get an interloper off her property.
Covid-19 or not, if she truly wanted him out they'd have to tell him to
move along. Unless, of course, he's tested positive for the virus.
Then she could shove him to the "backhouse" where he started and insist
he stay out of her house.

I'm pretty darned sure if some guy decided to pitch a tent in my back
yard and I called the cops they wouldn't say "You can't ask him to
leave, we're in the middle of a pandemic!"

The USPS has the same rules in every state, the home owner is
responsible for the mailbox, unless you can prove that the postal
carrier ran into it with their vehical... or you can prove that
someone else wrecked your mailbox and then sue them.
When my country mailbox post was sheared off by the county plow they
admitted to it as it wasn't just mine. The same thing occurs every
winter and the county road crew makes the repair. Of course they're
in no hurry, was two weeks before they got to it. Four P/U trucks
arrived with nine big burly guys. They jacked the old broken off post
out of the ground and inserted a new wooden post. Fence post jacks
are a very common tool around here, I have two of them. However they
forgot to bring the board that attaches to the top of the post for
mounting the box. Rather than wait several days for them to pring a
new piece of lumber I went to my barn and retrieved a piece of lumber
and they sawed off a piece to length, with my bowsaw... they forgot
their saw too. The mailbox wasn't damaged. it was laying half buried
in the snow some ten feet from the post. It took that crew more than
3 hours to mount my mailbox. While they were working a few Highway
Dept. trucks with supervisors stopped to examine the top secret job.
It was close to noon when they departed for lunch. A lot of taxpayor
dollars were wasted on my mailbox. At least I gave them something
meamingful to do or they'd return to their depot and hang out doing
nothing. I see those guys around all the time, mostly in town at the
deli ordering sandwiches.

She needs to be aware of what are called "Squatter's Rights".

We used to have a neighbour who screwed other neighbours out of land by
working their land long enough to claim it under squatters rights. He
tried to to the same to me, planting right up to the property line and
then plowing and disking my land and

One day I went back there with an axe and a bunch of stakes and drove
the stakes in along the property line. He we just run right over them,
so I stood stood there to block him. He told me "get the fuck out of my
way or I'll run you over." Then he popped the clutch. I had the axe in
my hand and swung it as his tractor. Unfortunately, it hit the
headlight, knocking in flying right at his head. It missed. He left and
then about 15 minutes later the cops showed up talking about attempted
murder. I explained what happened and they left.

The guy's antics backfired on him. In order to claim squatter's rights
you have to have been allowed to use the land for a certain period of
time. Thanks to him calling the cops there is now a police report that
is evidence that he most certainly did not have permission.

May be different where you're at but here, one does not need to be a tenant
to be evicted. Just a resident, which he is. He lives in the backhouse.
That's all I'm saying.

My friend in Seattle is being thrown out of where he lives. He is renting
but the person in the Condo. who is renting to him did not have the right to
rent. Somebody found out and he must be out by the end of the month. Is this
legal? No. But it's all Seattle. A place I am glad I don't live in. I did
live there once but now no one is in charge. We have lily livered
politicians who are running (and I use that term loosely) a free for all.

I'm unable to help him beyond asking around. He has a severe cat allergy so
staying here for even one night is not an option. He did come here once and
had a head to toe rash in about two hours.

I have been instructed by the Sheriff here as to what to do. I continue to
do as I was told. End of story.

The USPS does own some cluster boxes. If you look on their website, it says
so. But it does not say which one.

My neighbor took a pic of the bottom of the mailbox. There is a sticker
there that says, "Property of USPS 1998". We are baffled by the year as I
think all of the houses here were built in 1981/82. I know cluster mailboxes
were around in 1998 as we had one in CA. That was the year Angela was born.

I also think *all* mailboxes are owned by the USPS regardless of who owns
them.

I remember a big to do when I was a kid. My dad had some leftover blue paint
so he painted his tubular, curved to rural mailbox with that blue paint so
it would stand out from the rest. The mailman said that wasn't an approved
color. I think at that point in time, they only allowed black or
silver/gray.

So my dad removed the mailbox and bought a new, bigger one to accommodate
packages. Once again he got a tongue lashing from the postman because he was
supposed to ask and get it approved before installing a new one.

He is never stayed here "for free". As I said... He is the gardener. He does
all of my gardening, some of the cleaning indoors, takes out the trash,
cleans the bins, replaces light bulbs and batteries in places I can't reach,
repairs doors, etc. I do not pay him cash for these things. He also brings
me things from time to time. Decorative things, and outdoor furniture. Yes,
it's a loose arrangement but... But that's how we roll.

When he is no longer living here, he will continue to be my gardener and I
will then pay him whatever the going rate is, unless my new BF does that
work for me. He has offered. But right now I don't need him to do that
stuff.

No, I don't think there never was a rental agreement. He was invited in
after living in the "back house" with no running water or a toilet. He
proceeded to eat her food, steal her toilet paper and other supplies
from the garage. Bring in a girlfriend who didn't like her - uh, whose
house is it again? Oh, and at one time she was cooking for his dog.
For a while she was only cooking brown rice because that's what the
gardener said he preferred.

I do not understand any of this. I'd be kicking his ass back to the
"backhouse" if he truly isn't allowed to go someplace else right now and
she wants him gone. Stay out of my house. Buy and cook your own damn
food. Maybe he could cook weenies and beans over the firepit out back.

> So now you're letting him stay there for free?
>
She's always let him stay there for free. He "helps her" by doing
yardwork and that is, according to her, a fair exchange. Doesn't mean
you have to let the guy move in.

> You're getting shit on and you love it.
>
> -sw

I don't think she realizes it. She simply can't stand to be alone. Her
husband left, her daughter has grown up and is no longer sleeping in the
same bedroom as her mother. (That was weird.) She's moving on. Here's
the gardener, always around. Can't let him go!

Tacoma was never good, IMO. Seattle has had its ups and downs. But now it's
about as down as it can go. Two stories made the national news today. Jenny
Durkan (mayor) said she was taking the city back from that band of rogues
who took over part of Capitol Hill. But then one of them laid down in the
street and Durkan retreated. A resident said it's a party all night with
loud music, drugs and alcohol. Very loud.

Other story... Guy went to Lovers. It's a store. Never been in there so not
sure what all they do or sell. Stole a stripper pole. The problem? He left
his discount card thee and parked right under a camera so they know who he
is. Lots of tweets about that one!

That's a bunch of BS. I rarely even see the gardener. I saw him twice today
because he locked himself out and needed my keys. I have no issues with
being alone. Most nights I am alone. The gardener and his GF have animals
elsewhere. Rabbits have been stolen for food. They fear the goats and
chickens will be next. They've been sleeping on that property most nights to
ward off theft.

I stopped going on family vacations for the most part at age 12. I was home
alone. After I moved out, I had roommates sometimes. They were not always
friends of mine and in some cases, I rarely saw them as we kept different
hours. But I lived alone for many years and when I first got married, my
husband was out to sea for 3 or so months at a time. I was alone then. I
rather like being alone.

Have to go to the post office. I get scans of my mail so I only go when
there is something we need. A good 99% of it goes straight in the bin. It's

I highly doubt that. You don't even know which post office serves me! And it
couldn't possibly be replaced by then. It needs to be ordered and it takes
at least three weeks to arrive. Plus the 28th is Sunday, Pinocchio.
