I thought that after replacing four major appliances in 6 weeks I was
pretty well set for a while. Now it is the small appliances. The other
day I went to make my morning espresso and my machine would not work on
steam mode. The coffee mode worked fine and I had to tough it and drink
the espresso straight. I immediately went on line to check out espresso
makers. When my wife got back from walking the dogs I warned her about
the problem and advised her that Canadian Tire had a great sale on them
so I was going to order a replacement. Next thing I know, she is making
her latte and the machine is working fine. Phew.

This morning I was making a batch of date squares. Since I use large
flake oats instead of quick cooking I mix them up in the food processor.
The last time I used it the blade attachment was hard to remove. The
shaft appeared to be slightly bent. It worked to mix up the dry
ingredients, but when I took the bowl off the top of the shaft broke off.
So..... of to the store for a replacement. I just got a low end
Cuisinart that was on sale for about 40% off. It should suit my purposes.

We keep a spare Mr. Coffee in the basement. The last time one died, I
hated organizing pour-over at 4 am so I bought two: one as a replacement
and one as a spare. I consider it $15 well spent.

We have an ancient Mr. Coffee in the basement too, forgot where it was
bought or the cost but it's more than 30 years old so it couldn't have
cost much, and it has no extras, no timer, nothing. We also have a
stove top percolater for power outages, a SS Farberware... produces
far better coffee than any ADC... we'd use it all the time but it's a
PIA to clean.
Our everyday coffee maker is a Cusinart, has to be 20 years old, still
works okay but the plastic part of the glass caraffe is rotting away.
It's removeable with one screw but Cousinart only sells the entire
caraffe and that's $40. I'd much rather put the $40 towards a new
coffee maker... if I bought the new caraffe it won't be long the
coffee maker would die.

Mr Coffee makes a one button does one thing well coffee maker, and I bought TWO of them and use one, and have the second as backup!

And I bought a 1940's Kitchen Aid Coffee Mill off Ebay a while back for GRINDING MY OWN BEANS!

And I'm having right now yet another Cuppa Plus! :-)

You're just now discovering the awesome flavor of fresh ground ? My
grinder is a B&D burr mill type , gotta be 12-15 years old . For a very
smooth coffee with a really deep rich flavor try eight o'clock brand
Columbian Peaks mixed 50/50 with their Dark Italian Espresso . I make it
strong and this blend is never bitter . I use a Mr C 5 cup ADCM with the
permanent filter , it makes exactly 2 large cups plus a little left over
for the dog - his is more milk than coffee , I usually pour my first cup
extra full and just give him a little . I see your sig says C.N. , did
Missery legalize medicinal pot ? Or are you working with CBD oils and
similar ?

I looked at those at Amazon but I will wait until the Cusinart dies

>And I bought a 1940's Kitchen Aid Coffee Mill off Ebay a while back for GRINDING MY OWN BEANS!

I used to grind beans, roasted them too... but no matter where you buy
beans they are not consistant. Then one day I discovered Walmart
coffee, it's the best, always consistant, and no one beats their
prices. Walmart sells more coffee than anyone so likely they own
their own coffee plantations.

There's no point in going to all the trouble of grinding beans if
you're using tap water or bottled water or even filtering your tap
water with one of those fake filters that are no better than a
glasswool/charcoal aquarium filter. If you don't use Reverse Osmosis
filtered water you are cheating yourself by buying expensive coffee
beans.

Medical marijuana is legal in this state. I was unaware of this until a dispensary opened up in my little town. I was purchasing some snacks yesterday and the joint next door selling pot seemed to be quite lively. It was the busiest place in the strip mall. I wanted to go in there to check it out but the blacked out windows made it seem foreboding so I chickened out.

OTOH, the people that I saw going in there seemed to be in pain and ill at ease with their bodies. Hopefully, I won't be joining their ranks anytime soon.

Recreational marijuana is now legal here. They are still hammering out
the details for retail stores, so it is only being sold online at this
time.

Bow down before The Ultimate  Authority on Everything you scroungy
peon ! Sheldon has spoken , therefore it MUST be so ! I guess the
activated charcoal filter in my li'l coffee pot doesn't measure up in
his opinion . Does it matter that we have very nice water from deep
aquifers under the Boston Mountains ? Not to Sheldon ! R.O. is the way
to go , anything less is unacceptable ! Sheldon has SPOKEN and you must
comply !

ROFL!!! You are confusing cheap with good!

My Sumatran roasted at the store where I buy it is like $11/lb so not super expensive.

My Cuppa Plus:

1 cup Strong Black Sumatran
1 dropper/1ml or so CBD oil
1 small blob Hershey's Syrup

Stir, enjoy! Nuke to heat if necessary.

I used to put in a little dribble of Kahlua but I eliminated that today!

My guess is that it'll be legal on this rock within 2 years. What this means is that it's probably not a good time to open a pot dispensary - or is it?

Congrats. Yoose are beginning to understand him!

The idea is to consult Popeye before yoose buy even something as
inconsequential as a pair of shoelaces.
