None of this exists in a vacuum, i.e., the people who sell Costco
grapes and tomatoes have to pay more for equipment and so forth and
pass the cost on to Costco. Ultimately the cost is passed on to you
in the food you buy. That is a simplistic drawing of what is
happening but that is the way it works, the consumer pays more on all
goods.

They have been screwing us around too. They have refused to accept
shipments of canola. Worse yet, they have arrested a few Canadians in
Chine and then charged them with industrial espionage. It all started
after Canadian authorities arrested the president of Huawei at the
request of the US. Then the idiot Trump man an announcement about how
charges against her might be dropped if China bowed to US trade
negotiations. If I ran the country, that comment from Trump would have
resulted in her immediate arrest.

It is so much more economical to pay only 5 and to replace them every
two months. I used to get Dakota Tshirts from Mark's Work Wearhouse.
They were $16 each. They had a nice comfortable material and they lasted
for years without wearing or fading. I few months ago I had to replace
some that were more than 10 years old. The now ones have been sourced
elsewhere and within a couple months the material had already thinned
and the collars were all wonky.

I'll agree with you on Nixon, I would have claimed him my second
best.
I've always felt that both parties cheat if possible in any
election. Nixon's only crime was that he got caught.

Making good relations with China was his best accomplishment.
My only problem with him is a personal one. He promised to end
the worthless Vietnam war. He reduced it in his first 4 years but
(my feelings) he held off ending it completely in order to get
re-elected. Hey re-elect me and I will finish ending it. That
political stall cost many more people to die and caused me to
still be up for the draft.

Also Cindy, Nixon won in 68 promising to end the Vietnam war. As
said, he did greatly reduce it but still kept drafting people.
but held off until re-election to completely end it. Political
move just to get elected again. Once re-elected he did end it. By
waiting 4 more years, just think about all those american lives,
allied lives, NVA lives and even civilians that died during those
4 more years.

So yes, it was about me but all the others that died too.
Complete withdrawal at the end let the NVA win their civil war.
It was many years with many young people die for nothing. A
completely worthless war. Should have just let vietnam fight
their civil war in the beginning and it would have ended quickly.
Same ending without all the deaths.

There are never any winners in any war.
That was more about communism and Soviet Union vs the US. Vietnam
people were the pawns in that game.

Nixon finally ended a war that never should have started.

You could have enlisted in the Navy, a whole lot safer and cleaner
than jungle warfare. A lot of my high school friends were drafted
into the Army. They said the worst part was constantly living in
dirt, no toilets, no decent food. With the Army hanging over my head
during my senior year in High school I enlisted in the Navy, the best
decision I made in my life. A month after my 18th birthday I was sent
to the US Naval Training Center in Illinois for Boot Camp. Nine weeks
later I was at sea. Just before the Nam thingie began my enlistment
was up. I didn't enlist to escape Nam, it hadn't began, I enlisted to
escape the Army. The thought of living in foxholes was frightening.
Life aboard ship is scrupulusly clean. clean toilets, showers every
day, and since I owned the keys to the food lockers I ate better than
at any other time in my life. I can't say it was easy, shipboard life
is extremely physically demanding, working in a galley on land is
difficult but nowhere as difficult as aboard a relatively small ship
always at sea, never stops rocking and rolling. At first the rough
seas were frightening but in a very short time one acclimates and it
seems very normal to pee with 40º pitches and rolls. At times the sea
was calm as a bowl of jello but most times not. Often naval ships
search out and head into storms for conducting general quarters
maneuvers... my GQ station was the 5' aft gun mount. Everyone is a
assigned a variety of tasks.
The Navy is something I did that I never regret.
