We had another hive swarm this afternoon , I was successful in
catching the ladies before they ran off into the wild wild woods . I'm
sure glad I got the last bits of that hive completed this morning ! This
makes ten hives out there with bees in them , two more than my target
for this year . I'll be building more equipment tomorrow with the lumber
I bought yesterday , I'm just barely staying ahead of them right now .
First thing though I'll need to build a set of tops (inner and outer)
for the one stack of hive bodies I have left now . That will give me 11
hives and fill up my new hive stand . If they swarm any more I might
have to just let them go . As it is I've ordered more frames for the
medium boxes , I'm concerned they will stop bringing in nectar and
making honey if they run out of room to store it . Can't have that ,
they need to make every drop of sweet goodness they can so I can steal
some ! I promise to leave them enough to last all winter . Last year was
the first time I pulled honey in the fall so I could be sure I left them
with enough , now I'm reaping the benefits in increased hive count . If
they continue as they have been doing I may harvest up to 100 quarts of
honey this year . Now that's some beer money !

I dunno, looks like it would be hard catching a bunch of determined party
girls with that net.

He has the hives. He has the bees. He has the honey. He lives where stills
are not unknown. Where’s the mead?

I assume that is what your question was about.

Yes, thanks. I don't like sweet alcohol, like in liqueur, but in
liquor the sugar becomes alcohol and that can be great. Like the
French eau de vies, made from pears, apples or plums. Or honey, I
guess.

I tried mead about 45 years ago. Maybe they just didn't have good mead
around her back then. I was so impressed with it that I never bought it
again and probably never will again.

His question was really "Can I sniff your ass ?" . The sweetness
depends on how much honey you use in the mix to begin with and how much
is left after fermentation . Same as with wines ...

Also has some wooded property and both him and wife are
retired now. Life doesn't get much better than that.

Note to Terry: *I* would be interested in seeing a pic(s)
of your bee hives. :)

I still buy Mead office supplies. They sell it all.
Mead offers notebooks, binders, folders, planners and all the
supplies you need for students, teachers, businesses ...

;)

I need to find somewhere besides photobucket to post pics ... They've
gotten pissy about my ad-blocker and they are no longer Win XP - friendly .

Please use one of these two.
Easy to use without subscribing:

https://www.hostpic.org (I use this one)
or
https://i.postimg.cc (most here use this one)

Try both and see which one you like.

postimage.org doesn't bother about my adblocker.

We have a local establishment here that is a mead house. Very popular. It's called Honey Moon.

But is it any good? I like honey, but I was never interested on
trying it again. About 10 years ago I was in Tallinn Estonia and ate in
a Medieval themed restaurant where I tried their honey beer. A Swedish
fellow at the next table asked me what I thought of the honey beer. I
told him I didn't like it much. He said he didn't like it and that this
made two times that he had tried it... the first and the last.
