in this neck of the woods, i prefer the 'brandt' brand of liverwurst. fine and no herbs. schneiders is not bad either. i taste a very little bit of orange zest in the brandt product.
we used to have a great deli that made their own liverwurst. very unique, and very tasty. fiedler's deli. they went under. their downfall started when their master butcher retired. it seemed as though he didn't share his recipes. his liver cheese was the best in the county. liver cheese is not a cheese. it has the consistency sort of like mortadella. very unique, and tasty. it was good fried as a breakfast meat. they started buying sausages/cold cuts from other delis. it didn't take. then an asian guy took over. i was in there once, and bought some rye bread. it was stale as anything. needless to say, i never returned. and neither did many others.
we have a good polish deli not too far from where i live. i've never tried their liverwurst, but aim to do so. hopefully it will be a bit different and good tasting.

I think the last time I had liverwurst I was a teenager and most likely it was
some national brand. But I do remember I didn't like it but can honestly say
I've never looked in the deli area to see if it's available.

I think someone here recommended liver wurst with a big slice of raw onion. If I were
taking chances with my "gut" reaction, I'd try it. It sounds delicious.

I'm guessing that you have never tasted liverwurst. It is actually quite
good. I don't have a problem with liver. It is the texture that I have
trouble with. Liverwurst and liver pate are quite tasty. I used to eat
it at a German friend's house. We would eat in on rotenbrot for
breakfast or lunch.

Funny, itsjoan. I happen to like liverwurst. I even kinda liked my mom's liver and onions (sautéed).
She didn't make it very often...about 2-3 times a year. But I have never made it myself. I really
like liverwurst sandwiches, usually fixing them with a cottage-type white bread or sourdough,
crisp iceberg lettuce and mustard.

Kogels from mid-Michigan, USoA. it isn't super greasy and is
a bit dry so i like it. i've tried others and they aren't as
good. i live nearby i'm also a bit biased and partial to it.

i don't eat it often, but about once every other month i
get a chunk for sandwiches. at other times i'll get it when
i have home-grown garlic and i use it to make fake liver pate'.
i could eat a lot more of it, but i'm trying to keep my intake
of smoked things and fatty meats down.

I like all too, Nancy2. Liverworst on white bread with lettuce
and mayo for me, not mustard.

I also absolutely love liver and onions with that gravy made
served with mashed potatoes and green beans and plenty of that
gravy on all.

I also love chicken livers battered or breaded and deep fried
then salted well after.

Buying fresh liver, only chicken ones for me. That's all I know
about.

Remove skin and slice liver into pieces about 4" long and 3/4" wide.
dust with seasoned flour and deep fry... liver fingers were very
popular shipboard.

Not a good idea.
The Importance of Sharks. As apex predators, sharks play an important
role in the ecosystem by maintaining the species below them in the food
chain and serving as an indicator for ocean health. They help remove the
weak and the sick as well as keeping the balance with competitors
helping to ensure species diversity.

And because sharks play a vital role in the ocean's food chain, a major
decrease in the shark population -- or even extinction -- could trigger
things like out-of-control algae or the extinction of smaller animals
such as scallops that rely on sharks to eat their predators.

I like Braunschwieger on dark crusty bread with stoneground brown
mustard and sliced sweet onion, in fact I've switched to buying only
sweet onions... they are of better quality so keep longer. I see no
point in buying regular onions on sale when after like two weeks they
are starting to rot so the few pennies more for sweets are the better
buy.

A tick bite is not the end of the world. They have to latch on and feed
for 24 hours before you are likely to catch anything from them. While we
didn't have them around here until about 15 years ago, I have had dozens
of them on me. Most pull off quite easily with a tick pick. A couple
years ago I had one that I tried to pull off with tweezers and the
little bugger broke off with his head inside me and I could not dig it
out. People kept telling me I had to go to the doctor. I broke down and
went to a walk in clinic. He said there was nothing he could do. Digging
it out would just make a bigger mess than I had already made of it. He
said that when the wound healed the head would pop out. It did.

Shark." Then curious, they would open the door and a shark would

ob food: I've eaten shark meat once and it was good. We cut it up
into nuggets and battered and fried. Quite tasty. As we had 2
picky young girls then (about ages 4 and 6.5) and *knew* they
would refuse to even taste shark meat, we told them it was
chicken nuggets since they loved those. Well, they loved them and
ate them all up.

After dinner, I told them the truth that they ate shark, not
chicken. Big mistake! They both freaked out. For the longest time
afterwards, they refused to eat real chicken nuggets thinking it
was a trick again.

This is the only Oscar Mayer product worth buying. Of the
nationally available brands (in order):

Oscar Mayer (come in a chub, spreadable).
Jones Farm (pre-sliced, whcih I don't like)
John Morrell (fine,a ndonly 1/lb here often)
Biar6d Head Strassburg brand, light on the liver)

Actually, the SNL shark had to say something silly to get them to open
the door, like, "Candygram" :)

I've not eaten shark. Closest I've come is grilled swordfish steaks. Yum!

Ticks are ruining our lives. Wife is on 3rd Lyme disease. Did not work for 6 weeks now. Bed ridden.
The first two times cost about 30,000 usd. There is a new tick doctor 80 miles aaay. Went last week. The CDC is now involved. They take insurance while no one else ever did. They are testing to the dna level. Next appt is May 15.
Sold our camper, she will not even walk in grass. Wants me to get rid of my houseplants. Nope.
So far, we lost about 8 good years of life, to never see a tick on her.

So sorry for your tick problems, Thomas. I can understand how wary she is, but I don't
think I have ever known of ticks found in short grass. This sounds ridiculous, but could
she put pet tick collars around her legs? Or put drops of the flea/tick deterrent in suspect
places, like wrists, knees, etc.? Has anyone ever tried that, or is it dangerous or toxic to humans?

(Sorry, I obviously have too much time on my hands. ;-))

us carefully examine each other, every square millimeter... also in
warm weather, especially keep hair to a bare minimum, especially pubic
hair... I must be part tick too as I'm also attracted to female inner
thighs just like ticks... of course I dont bite, I nibble and lick.

When I walk the dogs through the woods I use some insect repellent and
make sure to spray some around my ankles. FWIW, the only time I had a
tick dig into me far enough that I could not get it out and its head
broke off inside there was 4" of snow on the ground.

I had not seen a tick around here until about 15 years ago. Last year
and the few years before that I could count on at least one of them
trying to make a meal of me when ever I went out into the fields for
the woods. Knock on wood... I have not seen one yet this year.

That is some scary shit. Sorry to hear that your wife is fearful. I hate when that happens. I'd be wary too. As far as I know, we don't have lyme disease on this rock. We do have dengue fever though. That's bad stuff but lyme is probably worse. I shall pray for her but that's probably not going to be very effective.

Some people may laugh at your statement, but, it is a fact. My own
family has been touched by it. My grandparents ate liverwurst and they
have been dead for many years.

Yep, nothing gets by you.
