I'm glad you found it. The local Hawaiian cooking is pretty much poor folk cooking which was developed by the families of the workers on the plantation and is reflected in the use of a few basic and cheap, ingredients. Ms. Morimoto remains true to this tradition of simplicity in her local style videos. She's the real deal!
Back in the old days, the recipe for mac salad would have included Ajinomoto aka, MSG. After the 60's that fell out of favor but in my way of thinking, mac salad tastes lifeless without MSG. If you ever do make her recipe, do yourself a favor and add a good amount to your salad.
OTOH, I don't like cooking macaroni so I don't make mac salad. I do eat a lot of the stuff because it tends to come with plate lunches. I will make Japanese potato salad through. I love Japanese potato salad!
