Hi. A friend of mine told me a really neat way to make egg mcmuffins, and I
wanted to ask a question. She suggested putting the ring part(not the
sealer part) of a canning jar in the pan (poaching) to keep the egg the same
size as the english muffin. I just wondered if the metal boiling in the
water is bad for you, or does it do anything? Paula.

It's not bad for you, and the only thing it does is it gets hot. ;-)

You can also cut the bottom off an empty tuna can or something
similar, and use that as a ring.

You can make them out of rolled up foil if you want. However we have a cooking
store in the Detroit area called Kitchen Glamor and the sell rings with handles
that are a lot heavier and were made especially for that purpose. Bye the bye.
I don't poach my eggs. With this storebought ring, I put it on the grill or a
frying pan and just break the egg into it. Then add a slice of cheese and a
piece of cooked Canadian bacon or some cooked ham or regular bacon.

I make "Egg McMuffin" without poaching the eggs. I crack each egg
into a cup then, using a heated no-stick fry pan, carefully pour
each egg into the pan, tilting the pan for the first one so the egg
stays "put", the 2nd egg goes on the other side. Salt and pepper to
taste. (Fresh eggs "sprawl" less.) (I only make 2, but I could at
least 3 into the pan.) I add a couple of tablespoons of water to
the pan and cover it. Cook until the eggs are done. (I like them
cooked *hard*.)

The eggs won't be perfectly round but they're close enuf or a bit of
the white can be folded over to fit.

I top with sausage patties or strips of bacon.

When I'm in a hurry for breakfast , I break an egg into a microwave safe
mug, beat it until combined then zap at 80% for 1 minute, stir and then
cook for another 30 seconds or so. Serve on a toasted English muffin with
cheese & mayo, salt & pepper.
Quick & easy

Sorry about the time passed, but at McD the Egg McMuffin turns 50 years old this Thursday and it will
cost only .63¢ ! !

I'll get two on my way to work on Thursday. About once a week I
get 2 sausage muffins. I haven't had an Egg McMuffin with the
"Canadian bacon" in decades. I don't even really like "Canadian
bacon," but I'll play along.

Only a fraction of a cent??? (.63¢) Shucks, I'll take 10! ;)

I'm assuming you meant 63 cents... was that the original price, 50 years
ago? Either way, if it's a nation wide thing on Thursday, I'll stop for
one. I normally avoid McDonalds like the plague, but can't beat that price.

If it's anything like McDonald's fries; it will look about the same.
