Soup today. Not vegetable soup this time.
A gallon of Vegan Pea Soup. It's been awhile but good stuff.

Cooling now on the stove top. I'll have a small bowl soon but
this is definitely better to make the day before, let all the flavors
blend overnight and enjoy the next days.

No animals are killed for this one. I'm surprised that Bruce has never
tried it. Oh well.

Ingredients:
- split peas
- onions
- carrots
- garlic
- celery
- sweet potatoes
- salt, thyme, tarragon, mustard powder, bay leaves
- 10 cups of water

No cooking here today. I will be going to a neighbor's house for
shepherd's pie.

Made of beef?

I already made barley pilaf. Now that you mention shepherd's pie I
might just thaw the ground lamb and make that slightly Greek style dish
with browned ground lamb, spinach, feta cheese and lemon zest.

I'll have to buy more ground lamb and potatoes so I can make shepherd's
pie soon. :)

In that case, Master will wait till the beef has been fully
digested to partake of it'd exquisite aroma.

Never use the LGBQT agenda and "shoved down my throat" in the same sentence, hehe...

Beef or lamb? Shepherd's pie or Cottage pie? The endless debate. ;)
Either way, enjoy!

Speaking of which, I ran across a recipe for Bisquik "Impossible
Cheeseburger Pie" while riffling through some of my old recipes today.
Might have to give it a shot again one of these days, some 40 years
later. Of course I'd have to buy some Bisquik baking mix, first.

Since it was beef it was actually a cottage pie, pretty darn good.

That's a whole lot of soup. It sounds appealing alright - except for the part about being a gallon of soup.
I made blueberry pancakes this morning - with coconut syrup. It's all groovy.

Sorry, but that's not a blueberry pancake. That's two eggs over a
brown gravy-like substance, probably with bits of animal in it.

No photos so I guess I didn't really make it, but this morning I made a
batch of muffins. When they came out of the oven I made a batch of
spinach and scrambled eggs with hot sauce. We had a selection of
apricot jam, cherry jam and honey to have on the muffins.

Dinner is roasting in the oven right now. We are having some little
roasted potatoes, carrots and onion with it. Hold on a sec..... okay
I'm back. I remembered that I had those pearl onions. I figured I may as
well use them up so instead of putting an onion in with the roasting
vegetables I blanched and skinned some of the pearl onions and they are
going to get roasted. Holy cow they are tedious. I peeled and blanched
them and put them in cold water and with each one I skinned I figured
it was four times more work to skin them that it was going to take to
eat them.

We have some Portuguese tarts for dessert.

I've never had Portuguese tarts - I bought some but never got to try it. Maybe one day. The good news is that the Portuguese taught the Chinese how to make their custard tarts. I love those things.
Whenever I take a picture with my phone, it get's uploading to Google Photos so I can get it on any computer pretty much immediately. It's great technology.

Do you just simmer it all together, or do you sautee the veggies (sans
peas) in oil first?

Gary

Start cooking the split peas and bay leaves in 9 cups of water.

Everything else starts in oil first, then add one cup water and a lid to
saute and fully cook.

Then remove bay leaves and combine both and simmer a bit longer.
