Neither Republican nor Democrat, just the facts!!

1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart Every hour of every day.

2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!

3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March
17th) than Target sells all year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target +Sears +
Costco + K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people, is the world's largest private
employer, and most speak English.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world.

7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and
keep in mind they did this in
only fifteen years.

8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought
bankruptcy.

9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx. 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are
Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.

11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur
at Wal-Mart stores. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 Billion.)

12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.
You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the ground
work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run
Wal-Mart to fix the economy.

This should be read and understood by all Americans, Democrats,
Republicans, EVERYONE!!
To President Biden and all 535 voting members of the Legislature:

It is now official that the majority of you are corrupt morons:

a. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have had 246
years to get it right and it is broke.

b. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 86 years to
get it right and it is broke.

c. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get
it right and it is broke.

d. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 57 years to get it
right. $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and
transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.

e. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You’ve had 56 years
to get it right and they’re broke.

f. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 51 years to get
it right and it is broke.

g. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our
dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with
a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever
before. You had 44 years to get it right and it is an abysmal
failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our
throats while overspending our tax dollars.

AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A
GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM??

Please circulate this. It is very well stated. Maybe it will end up
in the e-mails of some of our "duly elected' (they never read
anything) and their staff will clue them in on how Americans feel.

AND I know what's wrong. We have lost our minds to "Political
Correctness" !! Someone please tell me what the HELL's wrong with all
the people that run this country!!!! We're "broke" & can't help our
own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,? In the last few
months, we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey .... and now
Pakistan ... previous home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of
DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income', receive no aid nor do
they get any breaks.

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children
going to bed hungry, elderly going without 'needed' meds, and mentally
ill without treatment etc. etc., all while politicians get richer and
richer on our taxes. Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same
support they give to other countries. Sad isn't it?

99% of people won't have the guts to forward this.

I admit - I'm one of the 1%!

Those anti - US trolls here are simply jealous. If Australia, for example, were a US state, it would be one of the poorer states...by any number of gauges, Americans are roughly 20% richer:

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PCAP.CD?locations=US

United States 2020 $63,543.00

Australia 2020 $51,812.00

That would be correct. The young folks can't afford to buy a house, if they try to get an education, they'll end up with some mind-numbing debt. They can't afford to get reasonable healthcare coverage, nor can single moms afford childcare. The old farts are totally out of touch with the realities of the 21st century. You mean they can't afford to buy a McMansion... there are plenty
affordable houses.

>If they try to get an education, they'll end up with some mind-numbing debt.

That's strictly a choice they make, they want to wear fancy suits and
ties, and work in a corner cubie, but haven't the intellect for those
sort of jobs, so they soon collect unemployment checks. They can earn
a lot more money by learning a skilled trade and they'll have no debt,
not ever.

Good healthcare is very reasonably priced, and in the skilled trades
it's very traditional for the employer to pay for group coverage.

They need to learn how to keep their legs closed or insist on oral
sex... they need to offer their ass on a turkey plater.

I'm one of those old farts who has never been in debt, yet I have more
and experienced more than most young folks/spoiled brats.
I worked over time, second jobs and saved money to pay cash for a
house. I paid for every car I ever owned all cash.

to drive and they must have expensive vacations...

I guess I'm an "out of touch old fart" in my 20's, since I've realized
that I can live somewhere with a low cost of living, buy a house for a
couple grand cash, fix it up, live in it -- and have NO rent or
mortgage. You have to know how to play the game. I don't envy people
that have to pay a monthly stipend to live somewhere. A little sweat

I don't understand why people don't push trade schools like they do
college. In a year or so, you can make $20+ an hour with raises,
sometimes far better starting.

>

Couldn't agree more... if you aren't ready for the possibility of a
child, keep your legs closed. I couldn't date a woman that felt any
other way. If you are mature enough for sex, you best make sure you're
mature enough for a child... I don't care how "safe" you are, BE READY
for the possibility and take the responsibility or abstain.

Before someone bitches at me, rape is a WHOLE other ordeal, not related

I work for an agency that trains people in welding, CNC, press brake. Free training via WIOA or other grants, takes about six months, and the trainees get multiple offers, average is at least $20 to start, overtime is guaranteed, good benefits, great career growth, etc. Even better if you get into an apprenticeship such as Ironworkers, etc. Within several years can be making close to six figures or more...retirement pay is currently 12K *per month*...hard work but life can be very sweet if you've a good work ethic.

Currently there is a shortage of ___400,000___ welders in the US, needless to say manufacturers are crying for employees, many are having to scale back growth because they simply don't have the staff to expand...

Then you're just not looking. Craftsmen of every kind don't exactly brag

My husband spent his career working with his hands and his brain in electro-optics

I'd say not. American universities turn out thousands of young people with
staggering debt and poor job prospects. The days when any bachelor's degree
was valued by employers are long gone.

People who would in decades past have found a good, satisfying job without
a college degree are herded into college prep courses. Not all of them do
well, nor do they end up going to college. They would have been better served
by a meaningful vocational education program.

I know people in their mid - twenties who got vocational training early in life, they are already making six figures and at this young age are already enjoying the security that comes from earning these high wages and benefits. Plus, whatever happens, their valuable skills will be in very high demand...there is always a need for welders, ironworkers, plumbers, electricians, pipefitters, machinists...

Some are already buying homes and new cars for cash, saving/investing for the future, they've no debt - and especially no college loan debt...

Many of these came from very "modest" backgrounds, a good number of them are ex - felons...manufacturing provides them a good career with security...

Others wasted time getting useless liberal arts degrees, after years of waiting tables or working dead - end retail, they applied themselves and got useful manufacturing skills...more should eschew an expensive degree, absolutely not needed to live "the good life"...

I don't know what anyone could "strive for more in life"...and they aren't "bragging", they are too busy working hard and enjoying life...

Most of my class went to university. They often studied things like
anthropology and sociology. Only to become tax inspectors or
programmers later on.

You don't have to be very smart to finish uni studies, but you do need
a bit of a working brain. And you have to be able to sit still and
read something every now and then. With those qualities you'll always
find work, although maybe not in the field you studied.

Without knowing exactly what you did with your degree:

How Much Does a Radiologic Technologist Make? Radiologic Technologists made a median salary of $60,510 in 2019. The best-paid 25 percent made $74,660 that year, while the lowest-paid 25 percent made $49,580.

$60,510 is pretty good in these parts. Not so good in Manhattan or San Francisco.

mean you will find a good job though. Engineering? Sure. Medicine?
Great. Sculpture? Not so much.

You can have advanced degrees in some of the arts and not qualify for
mail boy in the office. If you do go to college take courses that lead
to a good life ahead and not things that may be nice to know but can't
earn money.

Not sure who is to blame, parents, guidance counselors or maybe some of
both. You need more than book learning to make a living. Amazing how
many well degreed people end up as cab drivers, truck drivers, fast food
cooks.

As for Bruce's chip/shoulder, I ended up doing what I wanted to do. In
high school I thought I wanted to be an accountant but I got a job that
exposed me to manufacturing and was hooked. In my career I managed a
couple of different companies and liked what I was doing. Night school
for four years, no degree.

Oh, my first job was the mail boy. I got an amazing education where I
worked as it got me to every department I learned things from
observation that I used years later.

The closest uni study to "Sculpture" that I can think of is Art
History. The one person I know who studied that, has a well paid job
in a museum.

Those are all respectable professions that can lead to getting ahead. The ground transportation industry needs management and foremen. and eventually directors. Restauranteurs need assistant managers , night managers, bartenders.

Sometimes, schooling is required. Like for bartending or electrical contracting. Shit work, management and labor and working with your hands isn't bad if you're still in school and or a strong part of the contracting and compensation process, union or management.

If you just STOP dead in the water, then its working with your hands - shit work.

Me neither. Being a good carpenter, nurse, plumber, teacher,

>When was the last time you _made_ anything, and derived satisfaction

Swallows kept building a nest against our outside wall. During
prolonged drought or subtropical rains the nest would fall down,
sometimes with chicks already in it. So we bought a nest and I
drilled/screwed it into the wall at the exact same spot. I was quite
proud when the swallows actually started using it. It's the little

Fact is, we have more college graduates than there are jobs needing that
particular education. Especially when kids take courses they like but
have no future. If 5000 students take dance, or acting, how many end up
with paying jobs using those skills? Very few. The rest struggle.
4980 of them would have been better off learning a business course.

College is good, just take courses that will help you do something to

Lady, since when do you get a 'master' title by having stopped dead in the water as I said?

I've worked on several construction sites. At night, kids go there and trash the place. Sometimes, dogs go in there at night and take a crap and you hope that the building materials aren't too close by. The term "shit work" isn't an illusion.

Yes, I try not to do it too often, but it's hard!

This isn't a good example, though. I said that either Ed has a limited

There certainly is. How do you get them? You have to have shelter and
food to live so once you take care of them you can enjoy the others.

I have hobbies, I've traveled, I've hopefully done things that made the
world a little better but I was able to do them because I had the

Daddy didn't leave me enough to live and put a new slate roof on the

If you want to take dance classes, take a minimum wage job because you

My dear Graham! No reason to be so rude, "try a little kindness", as the auld saying goes :-)

Acts 14:17

“ '… Yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good by giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.’ ”

Ephesians 4:32

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Colossians 3:12-13

“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”

Proverbs 31:26

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

A very poor web interface to Usenet, that's only used by clueless

Two random characteristics of Google Groups: it makes way too long

clueless) and it lacks the ability to killfile.

Things are very precarious in the U.S. Half a million people are homeless.
44 million are below the poverty line. The poverty line is pretty poor:

<https://aspe.hhs.gov/2021-poverty-guidelines>

35 years ago I was grossing about $13,000. It wasn't much, but I
kept my head above water. I can't imagine getting by on so little
nowadays. The average rent in the county in which I live is a little
more than $1300 per month.

There are exceptions, but generally speaking and in countries I'm used
to, you only end up homeless if you are addicted or have very serious
mental problems.

Why is everything so bad in the US?

The rfc whining and complaints department is also cracking down on posters that insist on posting pointless and/or non-uplifting, material. Please re-write your post to reflect the new rfc guidelines and resubmit it to the RFCW&C committee. Yoose has 5 days to comply - or else!

Good. Admitting that you have a problem is always the first step to
solving it.

Group bullying is one of the lowest forms of social behaviour. Did I
already say you're a coward? Just to be on the safe side: You're a
coward :)

No condescending posts, please.

It depends if they have the choice. They don't always. If you have a
brain and can prove that, you'll find acceptable work.

Graham is a vat full of the anecdotal and he almost knows as many
people as Dave.

Was that condescending too?

I don't know what you mean.

He's being group bullied. I hate that. Adults should know better.

Huh? We're talking about innocent dance classes, right? You make it
sound like a crime.

Was that condescending too?

I hope you make a distinction between me and that rabid stalker troll
that produced all the "Ask them" posts and that made a reappearance
through Google Groups very recently.

No condescending posts, please.

This is becoming a self help group for people who don't know when to
take a leak.

I thought it was someone who passes golf clubs to you while you're
having a shower.

I’ve never worried about these things and I still ended up alright.
You sound all doom and gloom, but maybe things are that precarious in
the US. Take the wrong course and you end up a homeless bum.

It's a spontaneous group. Don't play dumb.

No condescending posts, please.

It's creepy to see you suck up to him. It's a sign of an uncouth
character flaw.

Join the group then.

Fiscal survival, lol. We're really talking from two sides of a huge
cultural gap. Americans: sugar and money.

Was that condescending too?

Science is a work in progress. People without a scientific background
are often unable to understand that.

No condescending posts, please.

I never wanted to become a teacher. Then I studied French at uni. That
only realistically leads to becoming a French teacher. I became a
programmer.

What are show flies?

But hey, they learned how to dance and got a piece of paper to show for
it! ;)

Like many people my age, I took ballet & tap when I was a kid. I have
'two left feet' but in those days lots of mothers signed their kids up
for dance classes. I only ever met one girl who was very, very good at
it. She had been taking ballet lessons since she was three. Both her
father and mine were stationed in Bangkok and we attended grade school
together at ages nine & ten. We kept in touch for years, despite our
father's being transferred to different places. In her late teens she
was invited to audition for and was asked to join the New York City
Ballet Company. AFAIK, she danced with the company for a number of
years and later became a dance instructor. I truly don't know if she
ever got a college degree. I do know she was being paid to do something
she loved and it wasn't the same wage as a burger flipper with a useless
college degree.

We can't all be perfect, like His Hawaiian Arrogance :)

What are show flies?

No bullying, please. No condescending posts, please. RFC is supposed to be a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Bruce's raison d'etre is to take pot shots at posters. It got tiring really fast, but it bothers the hell of him when people ignore him. He must be seen.

As you do after someone's been buried.

Are naked people smellier?

Thanks for the attention, Dave. I thrive on it

You just don't get it, Gary. Orange man bad. That's all you need to know.

I'm not an asshole. Tell me when I was an asshole. And why do you never react when people say really nasty things here? RFC: For all your double standards.

Isn't that what y'all want?

The term dead spread alone. It seems to me that you're all a bunch of vultures that can't wait for someone to die so you can have a good feed. Really, really creepy and weird :)

Oh, the little cultural differences…

Amen. It's sick, cowardly and despicable. Just to name a few.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Just repeating information served to you.

Jean Cuthe and Bryanne Simmonse?

Says the guy posting as a girl.

If they saw Jesus walking down the street, they'd go "Marxist!" and put him in jail.

That's very nasty. He can be as interesting as he wants, but he's posting under my name. If you can't see what's wrong with that, you're a sociopathic retard.

The real Bruce posts with Eternal Smugness

Thanks for sharing

What's more curiouser is you're too spineless to just come out and say it. Make an accusation but not commit to it. Says it all, really

Do you think the world's average IQ will have gone up a bit after the pandemic will be over?

Was that condescending too?

Thanks for the attention, Dave. I thrive on it

Uh-huh. You're obtuse as fuck.

Netcop? You're always warning everybody for trolls that aren't trolls:) Detective McQuown is always on the case!

OMG, were you not worried about fiscal survival?

But what Sheldon really wants to know: did you also ogle the nurse and does she sleep on her back?

The plot thickens considerably

There are exceptions, but generally speaking and in countries I'm used to, you only end up homeless if you are addicted or have very serious mental problems.

Why is everything so bad in the US?

There's no criticism of the US there. For once, I plead innocent.

Was that condescending too?

Reminds me of snake handlers. Isn't that in Virginia? People handling deadly snakes because the Lord will protect them. Religion can do strange things to the human mind.

I don't know what you mean.

I'm not an asshole. Tell me when I was an asshole. And why do you never react when people say really nasty things here? RFC: For all your double standards.

Do you also keep hearing a voice with a German accent telling you it's time to start the class struggle?

That was my stalker troll

What a pig. Didn't they have to pay a bond or something, that you can now not refund to them?

I don't see a thing in the sky, but if you did, it must be a drone from the Marxist government, checking on the distribution of thought control medication.

If more people took DNA tests, there would be a lot more half siblings.

I sure have. One day I might rely on it.

Congrats. Now we sit back to watch the side effects........I heard that some people became hetero after the jab, beware!

Sorry, I didn't mean that in a condescending way. Maybe you really believe that they saw an angel in the grave

A very poor web interface to Usenet, that's only used by clueless people and by people who are too lazy to install a real news reader. Two random characteristics of Google Groups: it makes way too long lines (unless the user presses Enter regularly, but most are too clueless) and it lacks the ability to killfile.

But I'm a Liberal. I don't need to have direct, personal knowledge of something to judge it.

Was that condescending too?

I've spelled cemetary most of my life, but it's actually cemetery.

What are show flies?

Ask them, they’re here. "You can stop saying that now. Thank you."

Oh, you have to sign into Google. Yuck. Count me out, I don't do Google.

I'm here for the nostalgic purpose of Usenet. Might as well be on a web
forum if you're going to deal with that stuff.

I don't do Google, so I guess I'll leave it at that since it's a Google
product.

My much preferred alternative: www.duckduckgo.com

Huh... I guess I was under the poverty line last year. I'd have never
known it... if you live within your means, I guess that isn't an issue.
My house cost less than 2 months of rent in your area, and I own it
now... $600-some odd dollars for property tax annually. People that
choose to live in expensive areas puzzle me. I'll stay where anyone can
afford to live, even on a McDonald's salary.

As I replied to Cindy above, that all depends on where you live. I live
in a decent neighborhood, nice neighbors, and houses can be purchased
for a pittance compared to other parts of the country. No hurricanes,
no earthquakes, no tornadoes... relatively mild winters and summers... I
don't get why people flock to leave this area. Maybe they like to be
punished?

My step mom is in Las Vegas for a few days. Her condo had a bunch of trash in the yard, including 2 cell phones. The president of the association board seemed unconcerned. She said it was 110 degrees there. Her car wouldn't start. Both of her toilets were plugged. The guy that unplugged her toilets told her that he'll replace her 2 toilets for $800. She's going to leave for Sweden in a few days. If you ask me, she can't get out of that town fast enough.
