I saw the doctor yesterday and I was cleared to travel. I got my travel
insurance lined up and talked to my travel agent. We were still able to
book a room in the same hotel and got a flight that is actually a little
cheaper than I had been quoted last month. So it looks like we will be
celebrating our 50th anniversary in Paris. Let's hope the smell of tear
gas has cleared by the time we arrive.

I hope the hotel will have a servant to hold your pecker when you
need to pee.

Don't forget to take your defibrillator.

Enjoy the trip, officer.

Funny thing about the insurance is that this company would not insure me
until my test results. I went to another company and they agreed to
insure me... for $675 for the week, but suggested I should wait until I
got my results before booking anything. This morning I checked with the
first company. They will insure me for $400 less that the the second
company.

The second company quoted $675 without test results. Of course they
quoted more than the first company quoted _after_ test results.

Btw, I think they shouldn't be allowed to quote based on someone's
health as they see it. The idea behind insurance is that the few cases
where the insurance company loses money, are covered by the multitude
of cases where they make a profit. But I guess that's unbridled
capitalism for you.

So much health insurance just for one week.
I'd probably just skip it. Chances are you'll be fine for one week.

I skipped health insurance for 15 years. (age 50-65) because they had
become so ridiculously expense. That was a big risk but I saved a
fortune and I got lucky. Only one doctor trip in all those years.

My dad slipped and shattered his ankle in Sweden about a decade ago. He spent quite a while in the hospital. Before he left, he wanted to pay the hospital bill. To his shock/surprise, it was 50 bucks.
I had a client that was bicycling through Europe when his wife had chest pains. She spent a couple of days in the hospital. Like my dad, he was surprised at the low cost of health/emergency care in Europe.
I feel sorry for travelers to the US that require medical care. They'll get a first hand experience of the land of the freely greedy and home of the bravely wanton.
As far as my dad's foot goes, it looked like a regular foot even though it had pins and staples in them. Those Swedes really know how to put a foot together!

Things can happen on a trip. We had friends visiting from Sweden a few
years ago and they had stopped in NY for a few days on the way here. She
tripped in the sidewalk and from her arm. There was something wrong
with the cast so when they got here she had to go to the hospital and
get it taken off and a second one put on.

My wife's cousin went on a vacation to Greece and the poor guy dropped
dead walking up the steps to the Parthenon. It was a real hassle
getting his body shipped back to the US.

How much do Air Canada or Air France charge to ship a dead human carcass in the hold from Paris to Toronto...???

Better get "baggage insurance" for that, Officer Dave... "just in case"...!!!

Officer Dave, when you are over there maybe French President "Pipsqueak" Macron can bestow the French Legion of Honour award to Megatroid...

The wifey deserves it for putting up with your assholery for 50 fucking LONG years...

"The National Order of the Legion of Honour (French: Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur [ɔʁdʁ nɑsjɔnal də la leʒjɔ̃ dɔnœʁ]), formerly the Royal Order of the Legion of Honour (Ordre royal de la Légion d'honneur), is the highest French order of merit, both military and civil. Established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, it has been retained (with occasional slight alterations) by all later French governments and regimes...."

It is slightly easier to like Popeye, though both were 100%
complete grade A assholes.

They were two peas from the same pod. Both waiting to die, and both
typing furiously as long as possible.

One stuffy and blusterous vindictive retired police officer with
zero sex drive.

The other an oversexed, super horny, and also blusterous sex maniac.

Both were enjoyable to read and laugh. Either could have been used
by Carrol O'Connor in his comedies.

Both were comedic treasures who never became famous.

Your choice. Body can be shipped home. My brother died in Morocco and
was shipped back. No idea of the cost and what has to be done but
funeral directors do this frequently.

You do need permits and the State Department can help.

We did it the other way around. My father died here but had wanted to be
buried with his air crew who had all been killed when their plane was
shot down. Our plan had been to fly to Hamburg and rent a car there
because it would be almost 1/4 the price. We could not take the ashes
into or through Germany unless it was done through a funeral home here
and one there. No one here was interested in that. We ended up with my
brothers flying to Hamburg and me flying directly to Copenhagen. All we
needed was a sealed urn, death certificate and cremation certificate.

Our Popeye was perpetually entertaining, he was a living, talking version of The Kinsey Report...

Squirting pussies, long leathery nipples, fucking aunts, nuns, and the horny housewives he delivered groceries to...

Heck, even Princess Jill said she'd fuck him if he got her a job, lol...!!!

Officer Dave by comparison is a crashing bore...

But not to worry, we have Unca Tojo, our Mellow Yellow Rock Asshole, he never fails to entertain us mainland honkies with that Island Jive he speaks...

My brother died in Florida where he lived which really has nothing to do with
dying in a foreign country. But he was flown back home, and it was billed as
freight with a fee of $300.

I'm a little mystified as to what agency peforms the grading.
Do they stamp them with that purple ink, like the USDA inspection

"What does it cost to ship a dead body back to Canada?

The truth is it can work out pretty expensive. International funeral shipping fees can cost upwards of $10,000. And in all reality, the average price for shipping remains internationally is in the region of $15,000 – $20,000. This can make whole-body repatriation such an expensive option, that families may not be able to afford it..."

I know there are a lot of old retired people there, but I was wondering
if they ever died? My aunt and uncle did well here, liquidated all
their Canadian holdings and moved to Florida in their 50s. My uncle died
about 2 years ago a few months short of 100. My aunt is still doing well
and she is IIRC 98.

I'm just guessing they billed it for the size of the container, weight, and distance.
To them it was just freight of which they ship daily.

A little more thread drift here... When I was a young teen my best
friend and I were separated by family moves. His family moved to a hobby
farm about 40 miles to the north and my father was transferred and we
moved to a city about 60 miles to the south. I used to hitchhike back
and forth on weekends to visit. One time his father had an appointment
in Toronto so he suggested he could drop me off at the train station and
I could get a train to St.Catharines. Perfect. As it turned out, the
train was full and they were short about 1 dozen seats, so a bunch of us
ended up sitting on our suit cases in the baggage car.

We had a lot of fun back there, but I still wrote to the railway to
complain. I pointed out that it was a busy travel day and they should
have had an extra car. I asked for a discounted rate and suggested that
I should only have been charged for a piece of freight my weight and
that I should get a further discount because I got on and off by myself,
I didn't pee on the floor and didn't bite anyone. They sent me a
complete refund.

Well, if you want to get technical, a "squat toilet" is designed the way
your body is designed to expel excrement. It's not a pleasant topic for
a food group, but your colon is pinched off when in a sitting position.

The Europeans are smarter than us... or at least, less wasteful. Air
conditioning is an unnecessary waste of electricity in most climates.
I'll give Ed a pass in Florida, but from the mid-west up, A/C is
entirely unnecessary, unless a medical condition dictates otherwise.
You'll freeze to death up here in the winter without heat, but 100 years
ago, people seemed to survive without A/C in the summer -- in all climates.
