>>>Mostly, people are just staying at home. It's probably a good idea for
>>>folks to continue staying at home for the next 4 months or so.
Makes no difference to me, I always stay at home... I suppose it
matters how one defines staying at home... I very rarely leave this
property and when I do it's only five miles into town on a two lane
road mostly through the woods, hay fields, and cattle pasture... once
a week I check my PO Box. On the same trip if need be Walgreens has a
drive thru. For my usual one or two bags of groceries if I phone Tops
ahead they will deliver it directly to my car while I'm parked just
outside their front door, same with my case of Crystal Palace. But I
prefer to enter the stores, it's rare there's more than 2-3 shoppers
at Tops and mostly I'm the only one at the liquer store. If need be
my doctor and dentist are on my way into town... I have an appt for a
cleaning this week but I doubt they are doing that, I'll phone to find
out. Still, Dee the hygienist is always gowned, gloved, and masked
anyway, and a cleaning is no emergency, I get two a year but I own a
toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss.
Staying at home is very easy for me, since I moved here I haven't been
more than 30 miles from my front door and that's rare, once a year
when I visit my Urologist so Linda can check my prostate. And I
already found out that my cataract surgery is on hold. Otherwise the
only traveling I'll be doing is by tractor while mowing, and I'll be
in an air conditioned cab and wearing a mask... a few years ago I
bought a slew of those N95 respirator masks from Amazon... weren't
deemed important then and were cheap. I keep some in the tractor and
always have some in my car for when farmers are spreading chemferts,
insecticides, and the pollen count is high... besides mowing is always
dusty so anyone mowing needs to be masked. However those disposable
paper masks are not even close to being real repirators, at best they
filter larger particulates/dust and will not protect from viruses or
any germs/fumes... a real respirator is much different, covers full
face; mouth, nose, eyes, and allows no outside air in without it being
filtered by special cannisters, actually a gas mask... I often wore
one where I worked at
bnl.gov. Telling people to use a scarf is
insane. Those paper throw away masks are tantmonut to using a section
of panty hose as a condom. Were I buying a respirator for viruses it
would be this:

The main thing that annoys my wife about the virus is that she can't
play 18 holes of golf, so she and her girlfriend play 9, that's
because all the bathrooms along the course are now locked and they
can't last more than 9 holes... and ladies don't like to squat behind
a bush, especially this time of year as there are no leaves yet. They
will meet at the course today at noon, there's practically no one
there because only walkers are permitted now, carts are all locked up
now or they'd need to be constantly sterilized, plus the ground is
still too wet for carts anyway. The two of them don't get closer to
each other than 50+ feet, golf courses are huge acreage... playing 9
holes means they'll be walking more than 6-7 very hilly miles. My
wife has several friends here named Barbara, this is Pink Toilet
Barbara, her bathroom has all pink fixtures... I need to differenciate
all her Barbaras somehow. I ain't saying the nicks I have for the
others, use your imagination. She even has a friend who's our
insurance agent (cars & house) who nick named herself Betty Boop, has
a picture of Betty Boop on her business cards... of course I refer to
her as Betty Boobs, but yoose knew that. LOL
Thunderheart is one of the most scenic and challenging golf courses in
the northeast, was accquired a couple of years ago by Sunnyhill from
the fellow who built it as he retired... Sunnyhill is more a resort
than a golf course but the real estate abuts:
