Quoting from:

http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2009/11/09/2003458011

In related news, Lin Ja-liang, a clinical toxicology
specialist at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Linkou,
yesterday advised people not to nibble the bones when
consuming US bone-in beef.

Those who do so are four times more likely to become
ill than those who do not, he said.

Every time I see one of these "four times as likely" announcements, I
get really annoyed. They always omit the ONE THING that would let the
information make sense (I suspect it's omitted on purpose, to make the
announcement seem more significant than it probably is).

Here's what I find so annoying:

If the odds were one in a hundred, then "four times as likely" means one
in twenty-five; probably something to worry about. But

If the odds were one in a hundred billion, then "four times as likely"
means one in twenty-five billion; nothing to be even slightly concerned
about.

Which is it, I wonder?

How the hell did they test that hypothsis? Would you participate in a blind
study here you knowingly get exposed to prions? This is a hypothetical
model and probably useless. I would wager that if one traced back the
funding for this "study" it would lead to a meat industry PR firm.

It's a load of bull bones.

More likely to trace to some vegan group.

I can't remember the last time I "nibbled" on a beef bone. Who does
that?

The vegans I have known openly look forward to massive deaths caused by BSE.
They cannot wait for an epidemic. They pray for people's suffering so that
it "enlightens" the world about the evils of being an omnivore.

Geez...

Death is a natural ticket to every lifeform that we know of.

So what if it's lettuce or bacon?

You're gonna go, like it or not!!!

FUCK THE FACTS!!!

Well, "nibble" is really not accurate. More like gnaw. I love t-
bones/porterhouses. I love chewing all the meat off of the bones.
The bones are fun to chew on too. I am very unladylike.

Quite a bit, actually. We are all going to die eventually. What will
happen to our body after we die? By treating other bodies with respect,
we are acknowledging that *we* want to be treated with respect, even
after our death.

Funerals and memorial services are for the living, but they remind us
that someday, it's going to be *our* turn.

I don't care. Burn it, bury it, throw it in the street. It just
doesn't
matter what happens to it when I'm done with it. It's not like
there will be a "me" to care about it.

Oh, I don't want people throwing corpses in the street while
I'm still alive. That would suck, bigtime.

After I'm dead--I don't care.

Oh, and to bring this back on topic for r.f.c:

I don't care if I'm made into meat pies, either.
