Hey, it's helped in the past.
Quite a few of the previous forgers accounts with Google were cancelled,
which then forced it/them to open new accounts...... which were then
cancelled.
They may not reply to your every 'report', but they do act on them.

Why would they act on a report that someone is using the same handle as you?
If the person writing the spoofs was using the same *e-mail address* as you
are, that would be a violation of Google's TOS, but there's nothing which
says no two people can't have the same handle. The only way it would be a
violation (in more ways than one) would be if peta_l...@manlymail.net
really *is* your e-mail address. Is it?
Bob
Yup, Bob...it's true...and anyways Google is NOTORIOUS for not taking
"action" against *anyone* - I mean look at the HUGE amount of spam that
emanates from them...
I'm afraid that we've caught PeterBreath in still *another* one of his
sordid lil' lies...

How do you do that? Do they have a special Complaint Department? And
what do they do with your complaints?
Plonk.

Looking at your very own headers:
X-Complaints-To: groups...@google.com
If they find that someone has violated their TOS (terms of service),
they will cancel that person's Google account. If the posts are
offensive, they may delete them from their archives.

Hm. I wonder if they do that very often.

No. Almost never. They may use these complaints for some
sort of predictive, statistical purpose, but they don't
act on them individually.
Steve
How do you expect Goggle Groups, the most pathetic organisation, to
help?
First of all, Google Groups is only one of many ways to post to
Usenet. So, if Google Groups blocks you from posting through Google
Groups, you can go to any other Usenet reader, like Outlook (afaik).
Moreover, if Google Groups blocks you from posting through Google
Groups but you insist on staying with them, you can just change your
IP address and your nickname - and you are in again.
Second, for many years, we at soc.culture.russian were inundated by
hundreds of spam anti-semitic posts per day from some crazy Muslim
Bosnian-American madman from Florida called Amigocabal . He destroyed
our group. All I wanted is for Google Groups to stop displaying his
new posts, so that they would not drown relevant posts. But not only
does Google Groups continue to display all posts, no matter how
abusive the author is, but Google Groups do not give you any facility
to create killfiles. In other words, in addition to numerous other
atrocities and stupidities that Google has introduced ever since
buying up Dejanews (I have a feeling that Google has exactly one
employee working on Google Groups and this employee was hired as an
affirmative action for people with IQ under 70) and turning it into
the Google Groups, Google Groups goes out of its way to make it
difficult for the user to block spam.
Once in awhile you can still find Usenet posts saying something like:
"I am going to report this spammer/slanderer to the Usenet owners and
they will revoke your posting privileges". To some people, it is hard
to understand the distributed nature of Usenet and that there are no
exclusive owners/operators of Usenet.

You asked a question, and I answered it. I have never complained to
GoogleGroups, but many have complained that they don't act on most
complaints.

True.
> So, if Google Groups blocks you from posting through Google

No. Outlook is a client. It doesn't work unless you give it a news
server. Google Groups does not accept posts except through its own web
interface. You must pay for access to a server, in some fashion. My
ISP has its own server.

It certainly isn't hard to get back in.

Many good arguments for not using Google Groups for posting to these
groups.
> Google Groups goes out of its way to make it

Spam is not quite the same as abusive posting. Over the last several
years, I have made it pretty clear that Google is the biggest spammer of
all. Why would anybody expect that they would be vigilant in stopping
spam, other than to eliminate competition?
And you know this how? You work for Google?? I think not.
If you don't have 100% certainty, you really shouldn't sit there with the
"Bullshit baffles brains" mentality.
Having past experience with Google (because of the many weird little
scared weasels that need to emulate someone they adore ...me)...... and
yes, I even got a return email from Google.... they *do* look at reports
of abuse and they *do* action them.
There was some pathetic prick here in Oz, who lives/lived in Melbourne. It
eneded up creating about 100 different accounts because Google kept
shutting them down all the time. It also happened to another weasel, who
then went 'offshore' to a European ISP that doesn't penalize it's paying
customers. It searched long and hard, worldwide, to find that ISP too!!
