I have a recipe for a keylime pie and it calls for keylime juice. Is
there a difference between that and regular lime juice???? And if so can
you use just regular lime juice???? Will it taste as good??????

Yes, there's a difference. I think key lime juice isn't as tart, but I
can't remember for sure.

There is definitely a difference - 2 different fruits. Do not substitute.

It won't taste quite the same, although it will taste good. There's been
a lot of debate about whether the bottled key lime juice is better or
worse than fresh perisan lime juice. I've used the bottled stuff and
been pretty satisfied with the results. I always put the zest and juice
from one lime in the pie when using bottled.

I've seen some recommendations that half fresh-squeezed lemon juice half
fresh-squeezed lime juice makes a very close substitute to fresh key
lime juice.

"Key" limes (for the most part actually grown in Central America) are
nearly impossible to get fresh in most parts of the country.

Yes there IS a difference.
You can use regular lime juice, BUT please DO NOT call it KEY LIME pie.
Key limes are smaller and taste different. Key limes are yellow when ripe,
and the juice does not ever have even a hint of green.

Ah, lucky. Key lime pie is one of my favorites. I heard they make great
limeade as well, although I understand squeezing the little devils is
quite a chore.

Also remember that there is a brand of lime juice which tries to decieve you
by calling their product
Key (brand) lime juice.

It is just very expensive lime juice. Don't buy it.

Use Persian limes; not AS good but it does make wonderful pies. Do remember
to add the zest, it makes all the difference.

Keylime juice is a gourmet kinda item. It may taste a wee bit more intense.
Of course you can use regular limes. Fresh are always better than bottled.
Although the bottled Keylime juice is indeed better than that stuff in the
plastic lime you get in the store!

Shit for brains is wrong again.
Yer batting 1000. . . 100% wrong.

lime
The two main varieties are the Persian lime (the most widely available in the
United States) and the Key lime from Florida. The latter is smaller, rounder
and has a color more yellow than green. Outside of Florida, the Key lime is
usually found only in specialty produce markets and some supermarkets.

several months ago this was brought up. It was determined that keylime made
a bitterer pie and most people prefered a regular lime pie over a keylime
pie.
also the key limes were a pia as you needed so many of them (due to their
smaller size) to make the pie.

We usually can get them fresh in our supermarkets (Houston area). I use only
fresh key limes when I make key lime pie.
