At specialty markets like oriental grocery stores, or indian food stores.

There's a little oriental market down the street from my house here in Boise
that sells it, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding it there (Boise,ID
is about 150,000 people.)

Supermarkets often keep saffron behind the counter. You have to ask for
it at the service desk. Gourmet stores, Indian groceries and other
specialty stores often have it.

The best comes from Spain or India. Buy whole threads, if you can,
and don't be fooled by safflower threads (so-called Mexican saffron).

An excellent mail-order source is:

Penzey's Spice House, P.O. Box 1448, Waukesha WI 53187, (414) 574-
0277 (Wide selection of quality dried herbs, spices and spice blends at
good prices. Very interesting and informative catalog. Good service)
