I cook multi-bean soup quite often and I have noticed that red kidney
beans take too much time to cook (usually more than 30 min). UUSUALY, I
mix lentil, peas, garbanzo beans and others all together and cook in a
pressure cooker. I wondering if anyone out there has suggestions on how
I may be able to reduce cooking time. Thanks a million.

What about soaking them in water overnight?

Just a thought,

Try pinto beans, navy beans, or small red beans instead. I don't see why
kidneys would take larger than the garbanzos, although I know for sure that
the lentils only need 30 minutes in a pan, forget the pressure cooker. Maybe
you should try soaking the beans overnight before cooking (except the
lentils). That should drastically reduce cooking time.

Alternatively, if you forget to soak them overnight, and don't remember
till about 4 hours before you are due to serve them, soak the beans for 3
hours, then add an UNPEELED clove of Garlic and cook beans as normal.
Discard garlic when beans are cooked.

you can always put them into a pressure cooker (provided you have one),
which is what I always use.
