Our Sundae
Here are some pics of our Haffy Sundae at the Pony Club D rally last Sunday. One of my students is riding her. Yes, I've spoken to her about the position over fences. :-P She needs to open her knee a little less. :-) Go here: [link] Click on galleries, then 2008-10-5 CNER D eventing rally, then... more »

How do I address this issue?
Hi. My name is Lisa, and I am incapable of riding at championships. Is there a support group out there for people like me? Seriously, this is getting out of hand. Last month was the AECs, where I dropped myself out of the ribbons by pulling a rail in stadium. This weekend was the area 1 championships and I had a really... more »

Calling the Mare - Making the Corn Dolly.
Two facets of the ancient English custom of celebrating the new harvest were the corn mare, and the corn dolly. . Taking place after Lammas Day ("Loaf mass") which featured loaves baked with the new wheat (called there, corn) in August, the late September Harvest festival nearest the equinox featured a corn mare effigy, offered to the farmer who was late... more »

And Then There Were Five . . .
Horses, that is. Mares in my paddock. :-) This morning I crawled out of bed at an ungodly hour and Carl and I headed to Maryland. Tony climbed up on Rain and did a demo of what they've been working on since last week, then I got on (sans the spookarama set up) and had a really nice walk, trot, canter schooling... more »

Horse Quencher!
I have to say, I'm impressed with this stuff! I just posted about a trail ride earlier today with Ms. Comet. Well, our last ride, was the Pink Ribbon Ride and Comet refused to drink anything after. That was a seven mile, 2+ hr ride and she did sweat, but would not drink. I had a free sample arrive just yesterday so I took it with me today. When... more »

I'm gettin' the hang of this trail riding thing...
Hi all, Just wanted to share another wonderful trail ride with Ms. Comet! She's a superstar! A friend, not at our barn, asked if I was up for meeting her at my local Jacobsburg park. She has a young WB mare, Abby, who'd just six yrs old. There would be some "spookage" possibly. No problem, Comet's game for... more »

Heading out
So we've been working in the ring since Pete's return to this barn and today was scheduled for hill work and bopping around on the trails. It's so essential to leave the hustle and bustle, glitter streamers and small throw rugs, mirrors etc., for the open hills and trails on a regular basis. Pete likes it and I like it. :)... more »

lessons update...
yep, a week late, but i did have a lesson with C on the Mach Man. One thing i truly LOVE about C is that i know i get nervous and she just let's me work through it...spent the warm up part of the lesson laughing. We "worked" on lope... Macho has a tendency to want to break at the lope with me (and katie)...C identified for me that when... more »
