I've finally purchased my first horse!

(first) horse! I have posted in the past about Prince, the big
Canadian/Standardbred I was riding, if anyone remembers, and have been
riding quite a variety of other people's horses for the past 2 years.
I started riding Sabine last summer and have now officially purchased
her, so we knew each other well. She lives at my neighbour's which is
about a 45 second walk from my abode with 2 other horses. She's 11
years old, 15 hands, most likely a quarter horse/thoroughbred cross.
She has quite a bit of go, keeps her spooks to a minimum and is a
pretty good little jumper. So far so good. We are mostly out on the
trails since we back onto acres and acres of woods. I could not be
more thrilled. If we do anything "organized" it will be competitive
trail riding. Ontario has a well-organized CTR world by the looks of
it and I'm just one province over.

Yes, at the advanced age of 48 I was finally able to do it, not so
much because of any great financial windfall but because of my new
living situation. My costs are minimal, as I do not pay for anything
other than the real expenses and share the care-taking/labour with my
neighbour who has 2 horses of her own. Having had access to other
people's horses was wonderful, but having my very own to fuss and fret
over is a whole other story. It really is a dream come true.

Yes, hopefully that will be how it goes. She has no history of
soundness issues or any other health problems (yet). Her feet are not
fantastic but have improved greatly over the last year with
supplements and a good farrier. I'm keeping the backs shoeless and
using boots when we ride longer rockier distances, which is working
out fine. She really is the perfect horse for me. The right size,
build, training and age and she certainly is not boring.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to view the photos. I'm sure to
have a question or two in the coming months.

I loved the album, especially picture #5 and switching back and forth
between #6 and #8...we very rarely have snow here so it fascinates me
how different the same terrain looks when under a snow blanket.
