Just wanted to share another wonderful trail ride with Ms. Comet! She's a
superstar! A friend, not at our barn, asked if I was up for meeting her at
my local Jacobsburg park. She has a young WB mare, Abby, who'd just six yrs
old. There would be some "spookage" possibly. No problem, Comet's game for
it.
My other friend brought her mare, Fleck, (another WB mare - she's 10 yrs) as
well. Fleck and Comet are best buds.
It was a great ride. Poor little bay TB, dainty in comparison, Comet. And
two, much larger, gray WB mares! Both were ninnies off and on, Comet showed
them the way most of the time. Actually, Abby did very well and Fleck too.
Both of them are somewhat afraid of bikes, but every bike rider we came up
on was very kind and worked around us. Comet just marched on.
She's so good! Still reluctant to get on the trailer on the way out this
time (don't know where that's coming from - but not a big deal)...but she
jumped right on for the trip home.
We are becoming pretty good as this trail ride thingy. I have packing and
unpacking the truck (I have no tack room or any storage on my trailer, so it
all goes in and back out of the truck) down pretty well. And hauling is
going well. I just take my time!
So, it was a lovely day, *perfect* weather...nice happy rides for the two
"youngin's" and Comet really seemed to enjoy herself!
I hope everyone else is having a great time enjoying their critters!

Hey JJ!
Woo hoo! Glad everyone had a great time!
I rode Major on Saturday, in our arena. I just walked him around a
bit. As usual, he was a great ride. Light on the rein cues,
responded to leg cues, good on seat cues -- such fun! I have not been
on Major in ages (over a year, I believe)! It was a beautiful day and
he was such a good boy!
Hubby and I have agreed to disagree regarding Major. I believe that
Major is trained to the hilt. Hubby disagrees. Maybe it's the
differences in the way we ride, but whatever it is, Major is always a
fun ride for me!
Take care,
Ruth W.

Apparently, we do. He's so cool! Maj and I had a couple of very
minor 'conversations,' and that was it. He lost the discussions
(very, very brief and extremely minor) and onward we went (in the
direction {{{ I }}} told him to go). I don't trust him as much as I
trusted Sonny, but we'll get there.
There was a time when I made hubby ride Sonny before I would ride
Sonny. I lost my confidence (other horses) and that is still a bugger
getting back. Sonny, of all horses to be afraid to ride (before he
was retired). Sheesh!
Looks like Maj is gonna be my back-up horsie for trail riding (Prissy
is my 'go to' horsie for trails, now). However, I am *not* going to
be his test rider for trails. My farrier rode Major in Feb or March.
They did very well together. So, he will ride Maj on the trails for
me.
I will work with Maj in the arena, around the property and maybe,
around the neighborhood. We'll see how it goes. If you're
interested, then I'll keep you posted.
I hope you, Comet and your buddies continue to have a great time!
