Sitting trot again

What started out as a work-in-hand session ended up with me riding and
working on getting Westwind supple. Have I mentioned that my horse gets
*very* stiff? I really don't have enough drive with my back and legs to
effectively drive him into the bit. It's getting there slowly. It also
helps that I've been more consistent about not letting him break gait.
Sitting trot is starting to come together for me. It will never be easy,
<sigh> but if I wanted easy, I could have bought a QH with a nice smooth jog
trot.

Could it be the saddle fit? I recently got a custom fitted saddle,
and it's like I got a new horse.
