In article <3icoea$r...@homer.alpha.net>, gt...@earth.execpc.com (George Tews) says:
>
>I collect horse pictures, (Gif, JPG, PCX, etc) Especially the Hi Rez ones.
>Does anyone know any good places to find them, on the inet. Do you have any?
>How about MPEG movies, WAV sounds, etc. I collect all of them.
>Presently, I have an all-horse computer. Screen savers, icons, sounds, etc.
>But the collection keeps growing. Now, I have about 50megs of GIFS, 5
>megs of PCX, 4 megs of MPEGs, and an assortment of sounds, text files,
>stories, etc. When my harddrive fills up, I will put them on a backup

Uh-huh. Send me stuff, gimme gimme gimme - but not a word about sharing
the 60+ megabytes of stuff he already has. And he can't be bothered to
read this newsgroup?

<sigh>

At least he did say "please".

I've mentioned this before, but perhaps it bears repeating.
Lots of people are collecting machine-readable pictures
of every type and description these days. The purpose is
often to re-package and sell them as essentially "clip art."
So, if you care where your stuff ends up, find out the
purpose and motives of the person doing the collecting.

Another aspect to this came up yesterday at an Ohio Morgan meeting
discussion concerning mugs, Tee shirts, etc., for our annual
horse show. One supplier who sent us a price list also noted that
we did not need to send horse photos as they were able to get all
the proofs they wanted free from horse show photographers, and were
able to use them since no exhibitor ever bothered to tell the
photographer not to give away/sell the proofs. Although the risk of
being sued for using someone's picture without permission/compensation
is slight, we'll probably try to get copies of archive photos from
AMHA.
