My younger sister Mary Pat is a gifted artist and poet. We siblings
have always said that God gathered up the artistic talent which was
intended for the four of us and gave it all to her.
When my other sister lost her aging, beloved Radiant to colic Mary
Pat created a tribute to the gentle old gelding. You can see her
painting "A Horse's Vigil" and the accompanying verse at the bottom
of this page on her website:

Aw, belated condolences to Jan. I named my horse's baby Miss Moon Dragon but lost track of her after a couple of sales...tried to reach the latest owner but they would not call me back. The "moon" part came from an ancestor called Moonight Night and the Miss was from another ancestor called Garrett's Miss Pawhuska.
26 is a nice long life, and how good to know she had the same owner her entire life. Most horses don't know that kind of constancy.
