May the gobblers be gobbled with gladsome glee.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadians!

I am thankful for:

Having the foresight to put away enough money to cover my two
"favorite" words: veterinary services.

Although I intended it for the horse, it was actually the cat that
drained the fund this time by eating a foil cat food pouch she somehow
got into and requiring emergency surgery to get it out.

Greedy little cat is going to be fine. She has lost a few pounds and
looks a mess with her belly, neck and both forelegs shaved, but she
is alive and thats all I care about. Also, no more cat food in foil
pouches. If you feed cat food packaged like this, please ensure you
get rid of the package better than I did and save yourself a $1500 vet
bill and 3 sleepless nights.

The fellow operating the concession trailer yesterday, chided his 5 yr
old? daughter for attempting to put a pull-tab in her mouth.
He recalled the steel nut she swallowed. No magnet on a string, no
cut and sew - they were advised to wait for the natural course of
events. And so it happened.
I wish it could happen that way with sea creatures. Plastic shreds
are truly bad news there.

Happy Thanksgiving indeed! The stuffing is made, the squash is
prepared, the red cabbage is simmering, the turkey is brining, the
vegetarian loaf (always one in the crowd) is in the fridge, and the
wee potatoes are pre-boiled ready to be caramelized. Damn just
remembered I have not chopped the kale. Too dark to raid the garden
tonight - first thing tomorrow before the guests start arriving. Let
the crowds come!

OY!!!
What a scare.
Glad she's doing OK, albeit with a reduced fur coat.
