. Taking place after Lammas Day ("Loaf mass") which featured
loaves baked with the new wheat (called there, corn) in August,
the late September Harvest festival nearest the equinox
featured a corn mare effigy, offered to the farmer who was late
in gathering his corn crop - said to be a remembrance of the wild
horses who might eat his crop.
Then the corn dolly was made as an offering to secure the spirit
of the corn till the next year's sowing began, in the Druid
tradition.

Speaking of Druids... they figured something out about Stonehenge
recently. But I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Maybe it had something to do with memory loss. ;-)
No it was not memory loss Ms. Smarty Pants. It was lack of true
interest. The Druids were sort of wacky AFAIK. :)
Forgetting some new Druid research is one thing. Forgetting for a short
period how to sign my name is another. :0 Luckily it came back to me
after a while but I ruined two checks and never got it in 20-30 practice
tries until I stopped and tried later. Then it was right there easy as pie.
Tell me that's normal for an almost 49 yo please.

LOL!
Good one.
Wacky, wacky Druids. :)

Not quite that bad, but close: skeletons buried in the area showed injuries
and traces of disease.

There has been an excavation which generated a hypothesis that Stonehenge
might have been the first Lourdes, that its power brought people to the site
for healing.
There are plenty of other hypotheses as well, but that is the one that
caught the media attention.

I say it's a good thing that the banks don't really compare the check
signatures to the signature cards on file. I have banked at the same
facility for ... for ... forever, and there's no way what I sign today
relates to the oh, so careful signature that I once upon a time made.
Emily
I agree!
My signature has evolved over time. But for a short period I just could
NOT get it even close. My hand forgot how to write it. It hasn't
happened again and maybe it won't.
They should go to fingerprints. I just got an ID card that required my
fingerprints. I like that.
