That's a LOT of foals on the ground! Back in the day, a TB stallion had
a full book if he booked 40 mares. To put 108 foals on the ground means
he bred about 166 mares given that not all will carry to term (~65% of
TB mares bred on any given year deliver a live foal the following
spring) and that not all foals that are born will survive and become
"named". Most TB foals aren't named by the breeder, but by the person
who buys them as weanlings or yearlings - the only foals the breeder
names are the ones they retain for racing.
