Might be time to get the lathe out and make new
Couch feet or risers for the existing ones.
Somewhat simple disks, but with design as wanted.
Think hockey puck.

My lathe has been disassembled and I have not turned for 2.5 years
since I moved to a ew house. Can somebody come help me get everything
set up again. :) What happened to this group since I left. Very few
posts recently.

Well, I will not win any safety awards, but shorts even in winter, a
smock most of the time, a hat, and glasses. I never wear gloves
because if you use a scraper for bowl roughing, the shavings go up
over your hand, not across the top of it. I don't use a dust mask
because I turn green wood. When sanding, I have a hood that encloses

Em... it depends. But eye-protection always. If I am turning something
small like a pen it might just be my safety glasses. Wet probably the
combo face shield (old metal grill across the mouth). Dry, the Trend
Airshield. For clothing I have a turners leather apron or a turners
coat. If I am worried about large flying parts it the leather

for what it's worth, I was a member for a reasonable number of years, but
I've let my membership lapse because I lost interest in the magazine and it
didn't offer me anything else of great value - certainly for the first 4 to
10 years of your turning hobby you can learn a lot from the AAW mag

You make some good points for not belonging to the AAW, but there are

Well, I went to High School a few years after you did, Chief, but saw the same
thing happen..
Our lecture, however, was the teacher telling us how glad that the rules
included those snap-on ties in the shop..
He might not of been alive if he'd been wearing a normal tie..
