Apologies for being absent
I am so sorry to have been away for so long. I would say that it's because I've been busy quilting, but that's not really true. I've been busy ... raising two puppies, getting son #2 off to Air Force basic training (we went to Texas for his graduation a few weeks ago), getting son #1 started in a new career repairing(wait for it -----) repairing sewing machines, not being very well physically and generally belly-aching and carrying on.... more »

Enabling !
I was seriously needing some 50 wt aurifil in pink. I searched the world over . . . and found a really good price. An online shop going out of business. I bought my thread for $ 6.90 each including shipping. Hurts me to see a shop leaving us; hurts me to pay nearly $11 for a spool plus shipping. If you're an aurifil fanatic, see if she has any thread colors... more »

OT Contemplating becoming a hermit
Yeah the last few weeks have been like that. I've definitely got an incisional hernia, plus I have tendonitis _again_ this time all up my left arm. So the medicals pretty much want me sitting around doing nothing. I really suck at that. Just as a cherry on top I got a sinus infection (I am prone because of... more »

Sewing Summer Clothes
I've been busy sewing summer play clothes for GD and teaching her sewing at the same time. That means, at 12 yr. old the first part of July, she has been helping me and learning at the same time. This week end we will be making matching headbands, and maybe quilting material to make a tote bag... more »

Ping Polly-----Sewing for Baby
Polly, when you sew cloth diapers do you use a paper pattern or make your own using a disposable diaper? Do you make a Semi-fitted diaper or was of the old fashion rectangles like from 1950's. Don't have time to make any right now, but I'm thinking I might during the winter for charity. Or I may... more »

Brother SE400 - Worth It?
Hi New here and just wondering what owners of the Brother SE400 think of their machine. I have a bit of cash set aside for a new sewing/embroidery machine and a few friends have recommended the Brother. There's a lot of machines out there, but I like the fact that patterns can be downloaded from the net. It also fits within my budget, so that's... more »

My turn to look for fabric
I've been trying for a while now to find some orange and black striped stretch fabric. I'd prefer smaller stripes (say, 1/2" or smaller), but at this point I'd be happy with anything! I only want a yard or so - hoping to make onesies for two new babies in the family - but d'you think anyone out there has anything remotely suitable for sale?... more »
