Hi, I read the post about biochemist quilters and thought you all
might be interested in our little group. My friend and I took a
Quilt in a Day class at G Street Fabrics, which is not too far from
our homes. We loved it! I think the most enjoyeble part was seeing
everyone's color and fabric choices. There was also a neat feeling of
creating something in the presence of other women. Pioneerish or some-
thing. When we told our nursing colleagues about our wonderful experi-
ence, several of them were very interested. 8 of us took another QID
class and had a ball! We had so much fun, we couldn't stop there.
Since NONE of us finished our Quilt in a Day...we gathered together at
Barb's house to try to finish them up. We began to meet weekly (yup,
we still hadn't finished) and thought we should name ourselves. We
thought up grand names but nothing stuck. Until one night Barb called
to remind me to come to the "Stitch and Bitch". It pretty much desribed
our evenings at Barb's...so the name stuck. We meet weekly at Barb's
and anything that is stitched can be worked on. We do crazy "field
trips" and try to learn as much about quilting our feeble brains will
let us. Our focus still tends to be finishing those QID projects, but
we have resurrected many old projects and are happy to admit actually
finishing a few. Barb and I are also hooked on this NG and have found
it to be another diversion to keep us from housework! As if we needed
another hobby! Thanks for being here for us. We often discuss what we
learn here at the S&B. Dana
