Thursday I finished up 2 wallhangings. One for a baby shower today
(Sat) and one for Saint Patricks Day. The baby shower quilt is made
up of hand prints of the mother-to-be co-workers. They had come to me
to help them do a friendship quilt in honor of this very special baby.
Only problem, none of them sew!!! I LOL'd and told them forget it. But
I kept thinking about it and came up with the idea of doing hand prints
with fabric paint. I ironed white fabric to freezer paper and gave them
the teal paint to make prints. We did this at work over several days.
They also signed them with pigma pens.(just another tip from you all)
I wrote a poem to go with the handprints and centered it in quilt. I
sashed the handprints with yellow and added a small border of teal stars,
with a larger yellow border. The backing was the most adoreble of all.
It was a fabric with tiny handprints in teal, yellow, blue and magenta.
I outlined the co-workers handprints with free motion quilting. It is
adorable. I did charge them a sm. amount to cover the cost of the fabric
and supplies. I charged them 3.00 a handprint. I can't wait for every-
body who participated and the mom-to-be's reaction to the quilt tonite.
The Saint Patrick's Day wall hanging was from the book "Holiday Scap
Crafts" by Marti Mitchell page 97. I used more sophisticated fabric
with deeper colors. Its stunning. My friend Barbara Herron and I have been
working on it at our weekly Stitch and Bitch meetings. She has yet to
UNLURK!!! I feel pretty good today! I have to go and decorate the
baby shower cake. Bye for now. Thanks for listening! Dana Cataldi
